These days the comet C/2020 F3 Neowise is filling our skies undisturbed with its bright and vigorous tail. We are observing it in all the sauces, even its ion tail. Many were the photos that showed us the details of this unexpectedly so fascinating object.
We, however, wanted to do something more by revealing it from a different point of view.
Here is the Comet C/2020 F3 Neowise at dawn (4:32 am) from Porto Cesareo (Puglia, Italy) in one of our slightly out of the ordinary photos.
We tried to photograph it emphasizing the magic of those moments. The same magic that feeds the incredible emotions that you feel while observing it with the naked eye or with a simple pair of binoculars. Something unbelievable.
When you say "capture a comet"... in every sense.
P.s. thanks Rosalia for holding up that vase for over 60 minutes in search for the perfect moment.

A mi me encantan

With the ban on artificial lighting in Arches National park set to take effect in 2020, we figured this was our last chance to see this beautiful arch light painted with our galaxy.

I spent most of last week in Moab Utah where I got to do some shooting at night.
I love this park and love this old tree. I was very happy to get a chance to capture its rugged beauty under the night sky.

STORY
4 years ago, i was so crazy about how people click such beautiful Milky way shots?it was a dream of mine to click one picture of Milky way... I don't understand how people do that... After a lot of hard work i succeed. I manage to click some single shots. I was so happy that i can't tell. Many years have passed, now i don't prefer them as good pictures, seeing the pictures of many big astrophotographers i became crazy, i don't know how do they get those monster milky way shots. I have spend many days to get the idea. And then i found the secret, Yes, now you can see the result of that, my dream is complete now. Don't think that only setting up the camera on tripod could pickup this picture easily. This picture is created by combining 190 pictures. First i have stacked it for noise reduction. Then i have merged it with panorama and also there was some secret processing . That day the sky was very clear that's why you can see full details. I'm requesting to everyone to share this and comment on this picture . Thank you

As a bonus to our workshop we set up two star trackers and let everyone have a turn capturing images on them. While they were waiting we captured images of this great little tree under the heavens.
The best angle was very low. I felt a few things crawl across me while I had my head on the ground. I probably would rather not know what they were.

We sure are lucky to live in a state with such great dark skies.
Kay and I went adventuring in Southern Colorado this weekend. The first location I had in mind for a night shot didn't work out, so we just kept driving along empty backroads until we stumbled upon One Stop.
One piece of advise, if your looking for abandon buildings on a moonless night in a remote area, Forensic Files is not the best program to listen to on the radio.

On the way home from Moab, we stopped off in the Badlands. We used our newly acquired Gaia GPS skills to navigate our way around. This is a very strange and beautiful area. It really comes alive when the sun gets low.
Duel Exposure - We got up very early on our last day in Yosemite to catch the Milky Way over Yosemite Valley.
Tech Info: I used the app "Exposure Calculator" to determine the proper long exposure for the foreground. It's a free app that is very easy to use.
Sky Exposure: - ISO 4000, 20 sec, f 2.0
Foreground - ISO 2500. 127 seconds, f2.
The long exposure really brought out the light in the center of the canyon. Not sure if it is the first bit of sunrise or ambient light from a far away city/town.

It's Milky Way season again and I'm sharing a Milky Way selfie I've done a few days ago.

Snowy Range has some very cool trees, usually clumped together in little tree islands. We thought they might look cool under the Milky Way. The setting moon provided a great way to light them. I'm not sure what caused the bright orange glow on the horizon. A friend pointed out it is in the general direction of Ft Collins.
Sunspot action in H-alpha! I really like how the sunspots seem to organize the surrounding chaos here—magnetic fields giving some structure to the wild solar surface. A large sunspot group has been making it across the disk for days about to cross over the limb.
This one kind of marks a milestone. Still got tons to learn, but with this I followed a workflow where more or less knew what I wanted from this session—and got it. Also helped a lot that I’ve now set up a remote desktop solution (using google remote desktop, easy, free and works great), so I can run most of the capturing process indoors (so much better being able to review focus framing in a darker room with close to a cooling fan (we are having a heat wave)). See comment for a short video of that.
From now on, I’ll be uploading most of my Sun and Seestar shots to AstroBin (Flickr but for astrography) instead of here, but if I manage something interesting, I'll probably still find their way here. So this is kind of a "last" Flickr Sun post—but maybe not really :)
We hosted an American Photo Treks workshop this weekend at Rocky Mountain National Park. We couldn't have asked for better night sky conditions. The reflection on this lake was as good as any I have ever seen.
Tech Info: STACKED and BLENDED. This image is a combination if seven images stacked to remove the noise from the sky, then blended with a separate exposure for the foreground. The sky images were taken with the Sigma 14mm Art lens, ISO 6400, F2.0, 20 seconds). The foreground was ISO 2500 at 4 mins 13 seconds, which I determined using the app Exposure Calculator.
I love this time of year. The Milky Way arches like a rainbow over the eastern horizon. There is a small window to catch it before dawn, but then you can transition to sunrise shots. Then go to bed. :)
This Wednesday we got up really early and captured a night sky image of the Valley View in Yosemite. the snow added a nice accent to the scene.

A while back i was at Zovik, a very famous place here in my country for an old stone bridge, and its really fascinating... but whats more fascinating is the amount of stars that you can see there, i cant describe is so just look at the photo and you will understand what im speaking of :D
Besides that, i got lucky to have a 14mm f2.8 samyang lens with me, so i had even better view of this scene with it.
The trouble was for me to stand still for 30 seconds, cuz i cant be like a sculpture you know :P but in the end i ended up geting what i wanted... shot at iso 3200
