I took this picture of the most amount of stars I've ever seen. Simply a 30 second exposure got an amazing car trail from a car on the road and the stars in the un-light polluted sky.

Until I figure out how to put together a sequence shot in Photoshop, I am posting my favorite photo of the eclipse. I like it because it was taken just a second or two before the Ring of Fire closed, as you can see by the small break in the bottom of the ring.

I was concerned that none of my photos of the eclipse would come out because I waited too long to buy a solar filter and none were available by the time I got around to shop for one. I tried a welding mask filter (16 stop reduction) as recommended on some websites, but it did not work well for photography. The welding filter, however, was great for viewing the sun. I found that stacking a 9 stop ND filter and a CPL filter (which is about 1.5 stop) worked just fine. Overall, I am pleased with the results of my first attempt to photograph the solar eclipse with the equipment I had at my disposal. The experience of viewing the eclipse in a stunning location like Monument Valley was magnificent. But I felt dwarfed by guys next to me who were shooting the event with telescopes that most likely reach the beginning of time ;-)

Night time inside the hangar of a former airfield, temporarily escaping the wrath of a hundred billion ravenous mosquitoes. Sharing in the fun were night photographer friends George Loo, Ron Pinkerton, and Troy Paiva, who all somehow survived the swarms. 175 second exposure in complete darkness with warm white, green, and blue light from the ProtoMachines LED2 handheld flashlight. It would be impossible to exaggerate the influence of Troy's pioneering work in this area of night photography light painting. And George, the creator of the ProtoMachines light painting LED flashlight, was there! Feel free to share.

A breathtaking long-exposure capture of the Milky Way stretching above a dense pine forest. This image was taken on a clear night far from city lights, where the sky comes alive with stars and cosmic dust. The silhouette of towering trees against the luminous band of our galaxy creates a moment of pure natural awe. Perfectly still. Eternally vast.

Whether you're a fan of astrophotography, night sky adventures, or forest landscapes, this photo is a reminder of how small we are under the grandeur of the universe.

After many unsuccessful attempts (bad preparation, bad timing, bad weather conditions...) here is FINALLY my first shot of the Milky Way.

Small outing with @taillandjordan and his group at the Tour Fondue.

You can see the light of the @iledeporquerolles illuminating the sky, which gives a very pleasant touch.

In the foreground, it was the lighthouse of the port of La Tour fondue, which came to light the rocks adding a little touch in its own way.

Looking towards la lacar lake in San Martín de Los Andes, route of the 7 lakes I had the opportunity to photograph this wonderful postcard with the galactic center over the city. For this photo I used the stacking modality with 15 photos for the sky and 10 for the foreground. The best time for this type of photography in the southern hemisphere is the winter months June / July since in summer it can hardly be seen above the sky.

A try at milkyway from a moderately light polluted place right outside the city of Galena, IL

Milky Way,,clicked in a very light pollution area near my home town Barrackpore.India

-Wish upon a shooting star-

Location: Walnut Point State Park

This is my first time trying out astrography, and i was really surprised to be able to see Milkyway with my naked eyes. There are alot of things i'm not totally satisfied with, especially the composition. Part of it is because I can't see anything in total darkness xD

Any advice or suggestion is welcomed!

First ever Milky Way Panorama shot at Halibut Point State Park in Rockport, MA

Milky Way Galactic core view from Zion National Park, no moon at that time so it was freaking pitch black.

Just in case anyone is interested in the settings and gear used: Sony a7RII, lens Rokinon 24mm f1.4 @ 20s, ISO 2500, f/2.

A Hoya Red Intensifier filter to filter the Springdale town light pollution. A Tiffen Double Fog 3 filter to intensify and define better the colors the bright stars (“Akira Fujii” effect). (Stack of 2 photos).

Met up with Matt Franks on Monday evening at Avebury for a spot of light painting and Milky Way fun! We had reasonably good clear skies which is always good when aiming to shoot the Milky Way, and a fun couple of hours in the freezing cold! Good to meet up with Matt again too!
