On Thanksgiving morning I assembled everything. On top of each piece of bagel I spread an even layer of cream cheese and then on top of that a layer of chopped up smoked salmon mixed with diced onion. I used a thin slice of grape tomato and a bit of green onion for garnish.
These went over really well. I gave about a dozen to VV for him to take to his family gathering and he said they disappeared in about five seconds. I think my family liked them okay, too. They're super easy to make and don't require any actual cooking, which is always good news to me. It just gets a bit tedious when it comes to punching out the bagel circles and assembling the dozens of pieces.
A side-on view of the assembler. I still don't have a very clear idea of how it actually works, but this appears to show that the two horizontal components can slide, thus perhaps adjusting the heights of the components, that is, lining them up, before they are lowered into place. But this is just guesswork on my part.
Queens Birthday Weekend saw 71 trials bikes and 6 sidechairs assemble in Kaikoura, New Zealand for the 75th running of the Pioneer Clubs 3 Day Trial. Held every year since 1946 this long running event still enjoys good support with riders travelling from all over New Zealand for three days riding at three different properties. The sections for the three days were set in heavy rain the previous weekend. The first days riding at Birches Road benefited from the fine weather in the days immediately before the event. There was no frost and the wind was warm at times - not typical for this winter event. Rain on the second day stopped in time for riders briefing at Dairy Farm Flat and all sections except Section 6 had good grip. The view down the valley from Section 5 at the top of the hill was spectacular. Day 3 at Mount Fyffe delivered a day of rain showers with greasy sections that took more points than the two previous days combined. Sections 7, 8, and 9 became quite slick. Prize Giving was held in Kaikoura after the event with the trophies shared around, the Expert Trophy going North, but the North South Trophy staying in the South Island. The main social event was a well supported dinner at the Lobster Inn on Sunday night. Pioneer would like to thank all riders who traveled and joined us for the weekend. We hope you are able to join us at Queens Birthday next year for the 76th event. Enjoy the photos taken by Lynette. Note there are 330 photos so please give the folder time to load.
