The snowy owl returned from the Artic Tundra to visit again this winter. It is rumoured that they continue to have successful breeding years forcing younger owls south to find sufficient food. No matter the reason, it is a privilege to take your picture sir!

Thank you all for taking a look at my images, much appreciated!

Right place, Right time

The most lovely, the most amazing and the most arctic soccer field I have ever seen. Qeqertarsuaq, 69°14′50″N 53°32′00″W

What I find curious about this arty abstract for Sliders Sunday is that it was made almost entirely in-camera (see the first comment for the actual in-camera starting place). All I’ve done really is tinker with the colours (enough to call it a Slider). All the brushwork is a result of the camera’s artificial unintelligence.

The scene was a country lane yesterday. There are trees on the left and a hedge and blue sky on the right. There is also a large foreground tree off right though all you see are the branches top-right. You can play spot the telegraph pole .

It’s a three-image in-camera multiple exposure of three ICMs using sweep motions in three directions: vertically and along the two diagonals. The magic comes in using Nikon’s Dark blend mode which only blends pixels from successive images if they are darker… or at least that’s what it should do but I think we’re not being told the whole truth here.

For my 100x Wobbly Camera project this year I’ve tried to avoid using multiple exposures as well. Having dabbled again with it recently it seems that there is a lot of fun yet to be had by combining the two (highly unpredictable though it may be!).

Thanks for looking. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Sliders Sunday :)

Brown Falcon (Falco berigora) male

As I approached Sneydes Rd. today I spotted both Arthur and Guinevere but they were too far away for a shot. As I was taking the shot of the Fairy-wren I heard the familiar cackle and turned to see them fly past but had no hope of capturing a Falcon in flight one handed. As I came back onto Sneydes Rd. proper I spotted Arthur sitting on a light pole in the middle of the road, along with two Magpie Larks. I tried to get closer for a shot but the Larks decided it was time to move Arthur along. Thankfully after flying away from me he turned back and flew past me. Going at a rate of knots but in typical Falcon fashion was making it look so easy.

Still going through all my shots - I like this one

As the light seems to have disappeared along with my luck, I will have to try and apply some Arty post processing.

Janet was sorting out some flowers to be saved or binned, this one caught my eye, so I placed it on our granite worktop, and only lit from the LED under the wall units lights, I started to waste some time !!!...........

This image was taken at 13:36 o'clock.

It was quite a lot of wind so for that

reason the water surface looks like this.
