"One thought fills immensity." - William Blake. "Thoughts," a piece by Jaume Plensa, consists of a human figure composed of bands of stainless steel, each incribed with words and phrases.
Since time began, it's pretty well known and well the norm
that most poets just like to litter every wall with words.
So do as seen here, just rant away with harmonious utter.
Most of the time no one really cares that much - anymore...
Most of the time no one is watching, let alone reading mutter!
50 years ago, three well trained pilots, engineers, and Astronauts lumbered into a small enclosure of the Command Vehicle in their bulky space suits carrying heavy oxygen tanks. Their destination; the moon. But the half million mile round trip was fraught with peril. Countless systems had to work perfectly or they would never return. Three Astronauts had already perished trying to make systems work on earth that were designed to work in the weightlessness of space. There was no way they could be fully tested. So the fate of Armstrong and Aldrin was in the educated guesses of many engineers.
As they were trying to land the Lunar vehicle on the moon they overshot their planned landing zone and had to find a safe place to set it down. They did with only seconds of fuel left for maneuvering.
On July 20th 1969 two Americans, Armstrong and Aldrin, made that one small step for man, and cemented an exciting page for history. Collins who was piloting the Command Vehicle shared the danger of detaching the Lunar Lander and recovering it when they returned. Had anything gone wrong on the moon there was no way he could effect a rescue.

As much as I love photography and the creation of art, words will always be my first and most passionate love. For a long time I have felt pulled to try and bring both words and art together to create something uniquely me.
This began as part of a journal entry about what I would say to my 21 year old self if I could go back and whisper in her ear, and the realization that, more than a decade later, I needed to absorb the wisdom of those words perhaps more than ever. I added to my original writings, played with fonts and textures and printed it on the back of a Trader Joes shopping bag. Beat up the paper a bit, matted and framed it and it became a birthday gift.
I want to do more of these, I want to take my words, my design abilities, perhaps even my photos and meld them together to create art that speaks to my soul.
Perhaps it will speak to yours also.

The word "Love" is painted in a soft golden yellow against speckled pink, purple, and peach background. The watercolor painting has a textural contrast and sparkle from a light layer of glitter.
The inspirational word painting series are taken from the text used in the angel paintings.
"I choose to know love"
-My Life, My Choice
"In my life I choose to know my love"
-Feel Beauty
"It cannot cripple love"
-What Cancer Cannot Do
These images are designed so as to provide reflection and meditation on a single word. You can also combine them together to make your own word series for meditation/ contemplation.
Designed as part of an assignment for my Design class. The black words are tourist attractions and places of interest, the yellow words are adjectives and the red words are areas within New York City. There is a total of 92 words. It was challenging to come up with enough words while trying to fit them in.
