On filthy day in North Cardiff we 66130 working the 6C45 10:54 Tower Colliery to Aberthaw PS with 21 loaded HTA's passing southbound through Radyr nr Cardiff. The train is approaching a permanent speed restriction sign with directional arrow on the right of the picture here the train crosses over the loop line and the speed for the crossing reduces from 40 mph to 25 mph. The train will continue to cross over until it joins the City Line towards Cardiff. Taken on Thursday 18.12.2014

Unfortunately I was not able to explore the interiors of these buildings, as there were several unsavory characters hanging about...and I wasn't in the mood for any trouble.
Anna Maria Horner voile for top and backing; wool batting. Pattern is Arrow Tail Quilt--tutorial here. The cutting is the fussiest part--it's really a breeze. I used 15 fat quarters for a 48"x56" lap quilt.
Rather than quilting it I "tied" it using the bar stitch on my machine, so that the batting would stay lofty and fluffy. It is glorious.
And so it came to pass. I turned 50, to celebrate I took our family to Blackpool Zoo, the animals are so much closer and with it being small, you can have an enjoyable few hours without feeling you have walked 500 miles (no singing please).
So afterwards we drove down to the promenade, just for a walk really, but we stumbled onto the last 45 minutes of the Blackpool Airshow. Then the familiar sound of The Red Arrows Display Team arrived on cue and gave a full display. Clearly they knew it was my 50th Birthday and wanted to give me a display in my honour (Citation needed). Anyhoo, I got some money for my 50th and wanted to buy something to have as a reminder. A new watch seemed to be in order and finding this Red Arrows version just tops it all off, don't you think?

This was one of the competitors in the Grand Prix Masters F1 Cars 1966-1985 race at the Silverstone Classic meeting in July 2010. It's the 1980 Arrows A3 of Philip Hall, chassis A3/3 and was designed by Tony Southgate and Dave Wass. The A3 was campaigned by the Arrows Racing Team in the 1980 and 1981 racing seasons and had an aluminium monocoque chassis with conventional front nose and rear wing, and a cover over the gearbox to reduce drag. It was powered by the 2,993cc V8 Cosworth DFV engine in common with many of the cars of that era. In 1980 Riccardo Patrese managed a second place in the United States Grand Prix West and a sixth place in the Brazilian Grand Prix together with a series of minor places and retirements. Jochen Maas had a fourth place in Monaco and a sixth place in South Africa, and a few minor places and retirements. In 1981 Patrese had a second place in San Marino, a third place in Brazil then a mixture of minor places and retirements. His team mate Siegfried Stohr failed to qualify in four races and picked up three minor places and a series of retirements.
Golden Arrow is the largest bus operator in the Cape Town area, operating extensive services not only in the city itself but eastwards to Strand, north to Atlantis, and south along the peninsula. The bulk of its fleet is composed of MAN Explorers and the newer Lion’s Explorer model and indeed it can boast of owning the largest MAN fleet in Africa and one of the top ten worldwide in terms of numbers. At one point it also operated ’Neoplan’ Dart N199PYJ. On the downside, helpful features such as user-friendly online timetables, route numbers, and timetables at stops seem to have passed Golden Arrow by.
MAN Explorer CA24591 (4119) is seen on Fish Hoek’s busy main thoroughfare as it arrives with an early afternoon service from Ocean View. Vehicles in the Peninsula area are mainly based at Simon’s Town depot, which, going by the ‘PH’ code, is in some way associated with the larger Philippi depot. They are by and large drawn from early examples of the Explorer fleet, and I would estimate that 4119 is around ten years old. With an average frequency of twenty or thirty minutes, the service between Ocean View and Fish Hoek is the most regular of those on the peninsula, many of which are sparse between peaks.
