UK's Royal Air Force's "Red Arrows" were in Seattle for a fuel-stop layover from the previous weekend's Oregon Int'l Air Show in McMinnville before they head to Vancouver. BC. Their aerial tour is to show unity between Britain and the US as well as inspire the next generation to get involved with the STEM fields.

This is one serious Bow with an equally serious arrow. The tip of this particular arrow is essentially 4 razor blades that are serrated on the back end! You do not want to be on the business end of one of these bad boys! I still don't think I can comprehend the amount sheer force behind an arrow on a bow of this kind. This particular composite took me quite sometime before it felt right. There are countless adjustment layers dealing with color, light and sharpness to name a few. If I had tried to create this 3 months ago, I would have posted it on day one even though it didn't quite feel complete. I couldn't bear to do that to this particular image. I slept on it at least a couple nights and made incremental changes as ideas came to me. Sometimes it's hard for me to give a project, I'm so excited about, some breathing room and time. It's like putting together an intricate puzzle. No one completes those in one sitting, and when your run into a brick wall the best thing you can do is walk away and come back later! Matt brought his bow into the studio here in West Seattle so as not to scare the bajesus out of passers by in public. The background was taken at Lincoln Park near the bluff overlooking Puget Sound. I posted a similar image on my facebook page with the fence located on the opposite side of the frame. Matt was lit with a large octa right behind me and the rims were b800's through medium sized stripboxes.
Most Torontonians or Southern Ontarians visit Buffalo, New York, for one sole reason: shopping. Prices for certain items can be cheaper in the U.S. than in Canada (and yet other things are much cheaper in Canada than in the U.S.)
But Eridony (Brandon) and I went to Buffalo for one very different reason: as tourists to explore a city that was once one of the most vibrant and wealthy cities in the U.S.

Ever since January 1931 the "P&D" has been electrified and electric multiple-unit cars have been the staple of the lines passenger operations ever since.
Nearly 100 years since the first electrified train operated these rails the Arrow III MUs here are facing a somewhat uncertain future. With only about a third of the original fleet remaining in service and rumors of acquisitions of new "Multilevel MUs" floating around it remains to be seen if the second generation of EMUs will reach the 100 year mark of this lines historic electrification.
Aside from all of that pictured here is three sets of Arrow III MUs laying over on the Station Track, Run Around and Freight House tracks at Gladstone Yard on a cool autumn afternoon.

I don't think this image is one of those 'oh, it's *just* the angle' type, those planes were close [and 'nerves' made it difficult to keep shooting sometimes], but these adrenaline-junky, RAF pilots are amongst... or, perhaps are the most highly-skilled anywhere.
Here are four planes charging through the sky at four-hundred miles an hour plus, literally within feet of each other. They were probably near half a mile away from me at this moment, so when they break, they don't cross 'the line' of safety.
