A set of Arrow MUs head north past the Harrison PATH station. This is likely 3710 from New Jersey Avenue. New multi-level electric MU cars are on order, which will render these elderly Arrows a thing of the past before long.

Ok America, it's time to "play your music" (as the ladies monitoring the 74th election district booth in Brooklyn say):

- expect long lines: it's the most historic election of our generation, you may have to wait awhile, but it's all part of the fun. bring a buddy, bring a pizza, prepare to camp out in the name of change. more people are voting this time around than ever before!

- be prepared: know where your polling location is! if you're not sure, you can check here.

- avoid lines by knowing ahead of time what election district you're in. in most cases, photo ID is not necessary, but make sure you bring something that states your address (preferably with a photo) just in case!

- know what's on your ballot: you are voting for more than just president: state supreme court, state senate, state assembly as well as various propositions and amendments. take a quick peek at www.smartvoter.org/ for information before you head to the polls.

- know your rights: like tim robbins, don't let certain uninformed or corrupt individuals intimidate you or tell you that you are not allowed to vote. Call Call 866-OUR-VOTE (866-697-8683) if you have questions, concerns, or need help.

- learn how your janky old polling machine works: some of them are archaic and confusing. ask the friendly representatives at your polling location about the deal with all the knobs, levers, punchcards and machines is BEFORE you vote. they will be happy to explain it to you.

- document democracy: take a photo and participate in the polling places photo project . be sure to respect the rights and privacy of your fellow voters and volunteers. check to see if photos at your polling place are allowed. or, just be super secret spy about it.

- if the polls close while you're in line: STAY IN LINE! you are still allowed to vote if you are in line, even if they close.

- if you are, for some ungodly reason, one of the undecided: especially if you live in pennsylvania, florida or ohio, please click here or here to help you with your decision.

VOTE EARLY. VOTE HARD!

oh, and also: vote obama.

oh, and if you live in new york, don't forget to pick up your free sex toys for voting!

This is one of my favorite hood ornaments. And it has probably damaged more than one pedestrian over the years.

Fun fact - the judges at this show were all wearing red shirts. And they were IN THE WAY DAMMIT! Then I realized that their red shirts would be a nice background. So I adjusted my point of view. Lemons into lemonade.

I have lots of pens (hint: I love writing instruments!). This is a Parker Jotter that dates back to my deployment to the Persian Gulf in 1990 for what started as Operation Desert Shield, became Operation Desert Storm, and is now know as the First Gulf War. It wrote letters home (those were pre internet days) as well as notes on the patients I cared for at Fleet Hospital Five. And yes, I still use it.

I was kinda disappointed with the comic-con green arrow. It is just too detailed and looks like a 3rd party customiser like christo had made it and not TLG.

So I made my own version of the new 52 green arrow.

The Red Arrows performing at the 2016 Bray Air Display

I wasn’t going to post this, but by popular demand from Canada (you guys are too kind) here are the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Display Team, The Red Arrows! I think these guys knock any other comparable European team into a cocked hat, ie, Patrouille de France or Frecce Tricolori. I’ve never seen any big jet team like the Blue Angels, but a Red Arrows display is always sheer pleasure. Here they are about to break into the next routine over Peterhead Harbour. I was watching too closely to take any more, apart from nil aptitude in aerial photography, and a 55-200mm lens! Colin

Ps: there’s seaspray in the system somewhere from earlier in the year, that needs to be eradicated! This display was for Peterhead Scottish Week. I thought they were using the harbour breakwater as a flight line, which was a fair way away, but still great to watch, but without much of the visceral engine roar. Apparently, they didn’t display at Farnborough and never will again as the flight line rules have been changed yet again, this time after the Shoreham disaster. Any comment anyone?

This time the arrow was caught almost dead center on the middle target. Even though the final destination of the arrow was the target to the left of frame, we get to see it in flight only because of the contrasting colors behind it.
