Last summer Sophal & ND Strupler visited Cambodia with their 2 kids. The trip to Cambodia has awakened a deep passion to help the 20,000 street children in Phnom Penh living on the streets. This life style perpetuates the poverty cycle by depriving these children an opportunity for growth. They wanted to do something NOW! So they started selling their Art (Painting & Photography) to raise money and help Cambodian kids get off the streets.

TOGETHER WE CAN HELP CAMBODIAN KIDS GET OFF THE STREETS!

With the partnership of the Big Brother, Big Sister – “Bong Paoun Project,“ local volunteers will help street kids break the cycle of poverty allowing them to get an education so their children will not have to work on the streets of Cambodia.

Background

Sophal's story began when she was abandoned on the streets of Phnom Penh at about 3 months of age. A Swiss Red Cross nurse found her and nursed her back to health. This nurse was a friend of Sophal's current adoptive parents.

Sophal & ND have been married since 1994 and have a 10-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son.

Art Show in Fountain Valley

With the Art-Show in Fountain Valley they want to share their experiences in Cambodia. Their trip was peppered with an array of emotions, Full of joy, beauty, sadness and suffering. They are now completely committed to making a difference in the lives of Cambodian children through their passion of painting and photography.

All Paintings and Photography will be auctioned.

Bidding starts at $30, $50, and $80.

FairPlay

100% of the net proceeds from this event will support the work in Cambodia.

Earth's airglow and the blackness of space form the background for this scene of solar array panels on the International Space Station that appear to be intersecting. Actually the small section of panel in the upper left corner is connected to the Zvezda service module, from which the image was recorded. The other section of arrays is part of the primary solar array system on the orbiting outpost.

I drove out Radio Station Road today on the way home. I've driven by this transmitting station many times, but never on this road which provided a different perspective of some of the freaky looking transmitter arrays. I would not want to be on the crew that had to rig this stuff up.

From October 2017 to April 2018, ARM participated in the Measurements of Aerosols, Radiation, and Clouds over the Southern Ocean (MARCUS) field campaign. During MARCUS, ARM instruments collected data on the Australian icebreaker Aurora Australis as it traveled from Hobart, Australia, to three different Australian Antarctic research stations.

Sika Calf, RSPB Arne, Dorset - 22nd September 2012

The final destination on my September Saturday excursion down to Dorset was RSPB Arne in the hope of getting a few Sika Deer shots out on the flowering heather. It was a little after 5.30pm and following a brief look over the Middlebere channel we headed back towards the Salt Marsh and Poole Harbour, As for the deer, I didn't expect to see many at all after having seen a Dog running amok in amongst them, and certainly not for them to stand nicely for a photograph. So I was quite chuffed when I spotted a couple of Hinds hidden in the Bracken 30 yards or so from the footpath. I tried some natural framing too as an array of Silver Birch trees stood between me and the Deer.

Another 20 yards down the path and a few more Hinds emerged out on to the Heather, just what I was after, and even happier as 2 Calves followed. So not quite what I had envisaged with the light etc, but after the fracas with the loose Dog I was more than happy at what we saw and what I managed to photography, and glad that I didn't have to witness a Sika Stag go berserk, well maybe I would have been if it had been the dogs owners!
