Latvijā mācību aktīvā fāze notiek Ādažu poligonā no 3. līdz 15.jūnijam. No 9. līdz 14.jūnijam mācību norise plānota arī ārpus poligona - Amatas, Mālpils, Ogres, Ropažu, Salaspils un Stopiņu novados, kur bataljona līmeņa vienības, pārvietojoties ar bruņutehniku, veiks mācību uzdevumus ar zemju īpašniekiem saskaņotās teritorijās.
Šogad apvienoto sauszemes un gaisa spēku mācību vadošā valsts ir Latvija. Mācībās Latvijā piedalās vairāk nekā 2000 karavīru no Latvijas, Lietuvas, Itālijas, Norvēģijas, Lielbritānijas, Polijas un Slovākijas, kā arī ASV.
Mācībās tiek uzlabota dalībvalstu sadarbība, gatavības un kaujas spējas, kā arī demonstrēta sabiedroto spēja ātri reaģēt un pārvietot spēkus visā reģionā.
„Saber Strike” ir ikgadējas ASV vadītas apvienotās sauszemes un gaisa spēku mācības, kas tiek organizētas jau kopš 2010.gada.

Staci Gash, spouse of Maj. Richard Gash, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team’s Brigade Special Troops Battalion at Camp Hovey and 2010 8th Army triathlon men’s senior division champion, makes her way toward the end of the 10-kilometer run. Staci finished second in the women’s 30-39-year-old division in 2:51:22. Other triathles affiliated with the U.S. Army completed the Olympic course that included a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40-kilometer bike and 10-kilometer run events.

Class 017-18 5th Platoon, drill sergeant candidates attending the U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Academy react to direct fire and conducted move and shoot, bounding, and react to contact drills at MOUT East/West Sept 12, Fort Jackson. The teams not only focused on bounding techniques, but also team cohesion and communication.
The Commanding General’s 2018 Spring Company Commanders Staff Ride took place over 12-14th March and visited the Historical First World War battle sites around Liege, Belgium and Verdun, France.
The Mission of the staff ride was to provide selected Junior Officers a professional development opportunity that was highlighted by senior officer mentoring.
During the staff ride participants were able to walk the terrain of actual battle sites to discuss and examine tactical decision making and the evolution of those tactics as the war progressed. Participants also analyzed the American Expeditionary Forces involvement during the war and gained a greater appreciation of the human dimension of soldiering.
The sites visited included the forts of Barchon and Douamont as well as war memorials such as Voie Sacree, Montfaucon and Montsec as well as the American Cemeteries.

5th Platoon, class 017-18 Drill Sergeant Leaders train and test the drill sergeant candidates on their knowledge of modules at the USADSA PT field, Aug 23. Drill Sergeant candidates must be able to pitch and demonstrate modules, the DSLs complete a workbook and forms after every testing event. This helps DSLs track the progress of the candidates.
