Both men are not just strong, they are Army Strong! LTC Greg Gadson (l) lost his legs but survived an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack and SGT Knight (r) lost his legs but survived the explosion from a Home Made Explosive (HME) device.

U.S. Army paratroopers assigned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade react to contact as they move towards an objective in Poček, Slovenia with the intent of attacking and holding the location as part of operations during exercise Immediate Response, May 15th, 2019.

 

Exercise Immediate Response is a multinational exercise co-led by Croatian Armed Forces, Slovenian Armed Forces and U.S. Army Europe. The logistics-focused exercise is designed to test and improve the ability to move forces and equipment rapidly from one location to another. The exercise will improve readiness and interoperability among participating allied and partner nations.

Two U.S. Army football helmets, representing both teams participating in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, were on display at the Alamodome in San Antonio Jan. 3, 2013. The displays were set up during a Texas-style barbecue dinner welcoming soldiers, student athletes and musicians, and their families. During the dinner, top high school marching band musicians, teachers and community members were recognized with awards for their accomplishments. The Army has hosted the All-American Bowl in San Antonio since 2002, highlighting the 90 best high school football players and 125 best high school marching band musicians from across the nation. Soldiers assigned to the 143rd Airborne Infantry Regiment from the Texas National Guard, attached to the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based out of Vicenza, Italy, conduct an Airborne insertion exercise with soldiers of the Israeli Defense Forces and the Italian Armed Forces on Miroslawiec Airfield, Poland, June 8, 2018 for Swift Response 18. Exercise Swift Response 18 is an annual U.S. Army Europe-led multinational exercise being held in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. While obviously signed during his tenure (July 1966 - September 1969) in the above position, the photo itself indicates it having been taken earlier, simply based on the ‘generation’ of the model. I would’ve expected something more current/representative if indeed 1966 or subsequent.

The 2018 US Army Europe Ball took place at Schloss Biebrich in Wiesbaden, Germany on 13 October 2018. The event commemorated 100 years of the US Army in the Rheinland. Attendees were addressed by US Army Europe Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Christopher Cavoli and guest speaker Minister Robert Lewentz, the State Minister for the Interior for Sport & Infrastructure in Rheinland-Pflalz. During the ceremony, Lt. Gen. Saber Junction 20 is a 7th Army Training Command-conducted, U.S. Army Europe-directed annual exercise designed to assess the readiness of the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade to execute unified land operations in a joint, combined environment, and to promote interoperability with participating allies and partner nations. This year’s exercise will take place primarily at 7ATC’s Grafenwoehr and Hohenfels Training Areas in Bavaria. U.S. military forces stationed in Europe routinely conduct these types of exercises with allied and partner nations to enhance interoperability and readiness.

Apmeklējot militārās mācības, viesi novēroja taktisko vingrinājumu, kurā bija integrētas plaša spektra kaujas

 

atbalsta spējas, tajā skaitā kaujas šaušana no Polijas un ASV tankiem, netiešais uguns atbalsts ar mīnmetējiem

 

un artilērijas sistēmām, tai skaitā ar ASV Augstas mobilitātes artilērijas raķešu sistēmām HIMARS, ar kurām

 

kaujas šaušana Latvijā notiks pirmo reizi. Savukārt Itālijas Motorizētās rotas taktisko operāciju atbalstīs

 

kaujas inženieri no ASV un Latvijas bruņotajiem spēkiem, bet gaisa atbalstu nodrošinās ASV Gaisa spēki.

 

Latvijā starptautisko militāro mācību “Saber Strike 2017”aktīvā fāze notiek Ādažu poligonā no 3. līdz 15.

 

jūnijam.

 

Savukārt no 9. līdz 14. jūnijam militāro mācību norise plānota arī ārpus poligona - Amatas, Mālpils, Ogres,

 

Ropažu, Salaspils un Stopiņu novados, kur bataljona līmeņa vienības, pārvietojoties ar bruņutehniku, veiks

 

mācību uzdevumus ar zemju īpašniekiem saskaņotās teritorijās.

 

Šogad apvienoto sauszemes un gaisa spēku mācību vadošā valsts ir Latvija. Mācībās Latvijā piedalās vairāk nekā

 

2000 karavīru no Latvijas, Lietuvas, Itālijas, Norvēģijas, Lielbritānijas, Polijas un Slovākijas, kā arī ASV.

 

Mācību laikā tiek uzlabota dalībvalstu sadarbība, gatavības un kaujas spējas, kā arī demonstrēta sabiedroto

 

spēja ātri reaģēt un pārvietot spēkus visā reģionā.

Militārās mācības „Saber Strike” ir ikgadējas ASV vadītas apvienotās sauszemes un gaisa spēku mācības, kas

 

tiek organizētas jau kopš 2010. gada.
