A outflow boundary from a severe storm 40 miles further south.

Beautiful Arcus cloud over the harbour today. All that cloud movement lasted a mere 5 mins and then it poured! The men fishing on shore and I scrambled to seek shelter in our cars! hehehehe...have a great weekend everyone!!

One end of a shelf cloud, that seemed to form rather quickly, April 4th 2015 just on sunset. This was the closest, relatively open area, at the Howard Springs waste disposal point. The white leading edge at the top of the cloud? it's in every shot.

Taken just days after I had smashed my Nikon D50. Strong Gust front took out best camera. Another night storm with outflow came a calling. Even with a sand bag attached to the tripod it still blew it straight over. I was only about a foot away but the wind when the storm hit was nasty bad and I wasn't able to make a saving grab.

So this set of images were taken with 5mp LG phone that I simply hated. I had no other means of taking pics. Weird how this set of images would become one of my most viewed here on Flickr.

Now for the rest of the story....

Seriously, I wasn't even going to chase that afternoon. I was bummed out about my camera and lens. Now in a few unfix able pieces. My daughter Alyssa & I were heading over to good friends to BBQ, and have some Fresh Nebraska Sweet Corn & other yummies...

Just leaving my pad, we had looked out to the Northwest, and my jaw about dropped. It was still 20+ Miles away, I just knew she was coming our way... due to radar and warnings out for western counties... but the outskirts of city limits the clouds told the tale... She was going to be a photographic beauty.

My Daughter was hungry for the BBQ but she also wanted to see this storm up close and personal. I gave her a choice... BBQ or Storm.....she wanted to see the storm and we were off to our storm adventure! It was one of the best photographic shelf clouds of 2011! Glad we were there to capture this!

July came in with a Bang! Sweet storm setup with small tornado potential this day. We knew before we went that this would be an outflow dominate storm. A shelf cloud that stretched all the way from South Dakota into Kansas. 286 Miles long as we intercepted this beast storm about 8:15pm near Beaver City Nebraska for starters.

For some odd reason my Canon T3i overheated this late evening so I wasn't able to get all the pics that wanted from this day. With that being said, I have limited photos from this event.

Though what we did capture was simply Storm Chasing Eye Candy! High instability with a huge mammatus field stretching from horizon to horizon. One of the best photographic shelf clouds of the 2020 season.

Best thing was, we got out in front of it again by Alma Nebraska... Surreal!

With pics from my smartphone and some video help from Myles Nelson I was able to put this vid together! Took a few weeks but the end result is of course ....Epic! Storm Chasing out in the plains of South Central Nebraska to kick off the month of July was simply a hoot!

Wide view of a nice looking storm cloud over Dutch wheat fields in the western part of the country.

The storm was only weakly electrified, but had a great appearance together with the sun trying to peak through the mid- and high level clouds.

Massive Shelfcloud, seen from Stokes Hill Wharf, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia

A shelf cloud approaches after dark as lightning strikes close by illuminating the grassy hill. The powerline poles tell the story as to just how low these clouds were on this evening.

I was on about taking my pictures as usual and one of my friends found this massive cloud on his satellite app on his smartphone approaching to where we are. It kinda looks like the UFO from ID4 movie. Chinatown is a very popular spot in Bangkok for foodies as there are tons of food choices on this one street.

An incredible shelf cloud I intercepted in southwestern Brittany along the Atlantic coastline a week ago.

The arcus moved really fast towards my position and I got stuck inside the car until the strong wind gusts and heavy rainfalls stopped.

Unfortunately most of lightnings were hidden behind the precipitations. However that was still a breathtaking experience.

The glass section of the Victoria & Albert Museum contains many interesting works of art, and several of them are contemporary works,

This one was made by Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová, two contemporary Czech glass artists.

I took only a detail of their work, so that if you are interested in the whole sculpture you will have to google the title :)

This is only the second time, if I remember properly, that I propose a picture both in colour an B&W, the reason being that - like in previous occurrence - i see the final results as quite different one from another. Maybe I am wrong, but I definitely feel they convey a different kind of perception.

Erat amet platea consequat experimentum in centro St. Petersburg.

It was an interesting street photography experiment in the center of St. Petersburg. The arch near Varshavsky railway station has become the scene of spring street art. It was raining and before my camera got wet I put on the viewfinder and held my breath! The first frame was out of focus... But at the exit to the light, the figure showed its shadow...

This sports hall (Sportcentrum Arcus in Wijchen, NL) appeals to me because of its pattern of greens. Each level is more dark green, which is a nice analogy to the development of plants: starting small and frail, in time growing higher and full of leaves. The leaves of the tree in front just started sprouting and will hopefully follow the same pattern of growth throughout this year. Architectural design by Bureau Bos in The Netherlands. An appropriate name in relation to the theme of growth, as bos is Dutch for forest.

A storm front moves across the plains while sucking up red dirt from the ground. From a distance this storm looked black and teal. When I caught sight of it, my heart felt soothed.

Arcus Cloud is the umbrella term used for low-lying accessory clouds that spreads out horizontally, usually from the boundary of a larger storm system like a thunderstorm. These cloud formations have a visually striking appearance and typically appear as shelf clouds or roll clouds.

The lights from Fort Huachuca gives this image its otherworldly glow.
