The first structure to call the Port Lands home is this snowy owl. The owl has a stage built into its belly, and it will be surrounded by seating that looks like a nest. The stage is meant for kids to perform impromptu or imaginative shows. It also includes sound features such as a drum, bells, and talk tubes for the ‘director’ to call up to the performers waiting in the wings.

Skylights of Porto = Clarabóias do Porto
Skylight as seen from the interior of the house, normally placed on the core of the building as a solution for a problem of lighting.
This is a series of photofraphs designated by "The Skylights of Porto". Skylights are one of the most relevant architectural details in Porto and you can find them here in quantity and variety.
In the second half of the nineteenth century, the houses of the bourgeoisie needed lighting solutions and people saw in the design of the skylights an opportunity to create symbols of social distinction and recognition.
I fell in love with the skylights because I love light, and photographing skylights can start by being a challenge and end in a beautiful lightwritten poem.
...
The light on this day was almost inexistent, because it was a gray rainy day. I will try to go there on a sunny day (end of the day), because too much sun may create blown highlights. I find it difficult to photograph skylights. but when the result is positive I feel rewarded.
The floating ‘Volga Pearl’ is a converted river station, built in the days when travel along the Volga was still in vogue.
The Palace of Prince Alexander Nikolaevich Golitsyn and Countess Sofia Panina (now the Yasnaya Polyana Sanatorium) with the museum room of L. N. Tolstoy, who lived here in 1901-1902. Here he was treated and worked a lot: he wrote the story "Hadji Murad" and a number of articles. Chekhov, Kuprin, Gorky, Chaliapin visited Tolstoy in Gaspra.
In front of the main facade there is a bust of Lev Nikolaevich by the Yalta sculptor D. Zhuravlev.
The building of the sanatorium "Yasnaya Polyana", on which a memorial plaque in memory of the stay of Lev Tolstoy is reinforced, is a palace built of gray stone with lancet windows and massive octagonal side towers topped with battlements and covered with ivy; erected in the 1830s by the creator of the Vorontsov Palace in Alupka, architect Gunt for Prince A. N.. Golitsyn (1773-1844).

The Khan's Palace in Bakhchisaray was built in the 16th century and served as a residence for a succession of Crimean Khans. The Crimean Khanate was a Turkic vassal state of the Ottoman Empire from 1478 to 1774 -- the longest-lived of the Turkic khanates that succeeded the empire of the Golden Horde.

These are a pair of old crusty doors fronting a car mechanics shop in Chichester, West Sussex. I have been wanting to photograph these for some time as I have been expecting them to be replaced as they become more dilapidated.

This modern theater building (at the right)from the 1980s is still one of the most talked-about buildings in Prague. Its characteristic form, designed by Stanislav Libenský and constructed from more than four thousand blown glass blocks, drastically changed the neo-Renaissance appearance of the street. It’s part of the National Theatre and the home of the Laterna Magica and other original projects.
The National Theatre (at the left) is the Czech Republic's representative stage, built with funds from a nationwide collection and first opened in 1881, and for the second time in 1883 after a devastating fire. The house of Baron Fredericks (the official name until 1917 - "ministerial house with apartments for ladies") was erected in 1901–1902. Petersburg architect Alfred Avgustovich Biber. The three-storey building is designed in the so-called Baltic Art Nouveau style. On the western and south-western facades, metal decorations have been preserved - lattices, brackets, elements of awnings. There were several apartments inside, the largest of which belonged to Vladimir Borisovich Fredericks
I hope I will find better locations and collect some more fall colour this year.
For now, I have only some golden hue from the parking lot of shopping mall.

I've been waiting to head downtown to photograph the latest @calatravaofficial sculpture "Constellation".
It's located at River Point Park along the Chicago River. Perfect.
There are endless possibilities when photographing this sculpture.
This is an exterior detail shot I took of one of the buildings in The Avenue, Spinningfields, Manchester, UK. The symmetry of the corner of the building drew my eye, and because it was an overcast day, there were no shadows to contend with.

Bathed in golden light and wrapped in early morning mist, the Palácio da Pena in Sintra rises like a dream above the forested hills. Its vivid yellow and lilac façades glow against the crisp blue sky, a collision of Romanticism and royal whimsy perched atop the Serra de Sintra. From this terrace, the world below disappears into a sea of clouds — only the sound of wind and distant church bells breaks the stillness.
Built in the 19th century for King Ferdinand II, the palace blends Gothic, Manueline, Moorish, and Renaissance motifs in a uniquely Portuguese symphony of color and form. It’s a place that feels alive, as if the walls themselves remember centuries of fog-drenched mornings like this one.
