This is a scan of a printed photo from the 60-s. It was shot by my father.

"The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the Nerl River (Russian: Церковь Покрова на Нерли, Tserkov Pokrova na Nerli) is an Orthodox church and a symbol of medieval Russia, built in the mid-12th century.

The church is situated at the confluence of Nerl and Klyazma Rivers in Bogolyubovo, Suzdalsky District, Vladimir Oblast, 13 km north-east of the ancient capital of Vladimir.

The church was commissioned by Andrei Bogolyubsky. According to some sources, it was built to commemorate Andrei's victory over the Bulgars and his son Izyaslav, who was slain in the battle. The exact construction date of the church is unknown.

The monument is built in white stone, and has one dome and four columns in the interior. Its proportions are elongated on purpose to make its outline seem slenderer, although this architectural solution restricts its use for holding services.

For centuries, the memorial church greeted everyone approaching the palace at Bogolyubovo. In spring, the area would be flooded, and the church appeared as if floating on water. The church itself has not been touched by later generations; only the dome's shape has been slightly changed, and porch-galleries were added in the 12th-century, rebuilt in 18th-century and then demolished. The walls are still covered with 12th-century stonecarvings."

The Long Trail

"Harley Parking Only - All others will be crushed" says the sign in the parking lot. Don't believe it though. Another standard neighborhood bar with no history that I can find. Apparently the food is good and the drinks are standard Milwaukee.

Toni's Moody Blues

No interesting history to be found here, Toni's is just a small neighborhood "townie" or "dive" bar. Cheap beer of the limited local variety, and reportedly friendly enough. But that's all I've got on this one.

The Rock it

I can't find anything about this place even from it's own FB page. Just a standard neighborhood sports bar I guess.

Dreary, rain-soaked buildings near Houston’s Galleria mall.

A girl walks her bike along Toronto’s Yonge Street towards iconic retailer Sam the Record Man in this shot from 2004. Sadly, the store closed forever in 2007.

Pastiche Bistro & Wine Bar

I thought long and hard about this one. In the time that passed between my original shot of it, and my re-shoot, it had closed in favor of larger space downtown... Something I hadn't realized until I did the re-shoot. I'm including it because it existed at the time I first went to shoot it, and thus became part of the record of that day. I've decided that if I try to keep up with every opening/closing that can happen, I'll never get this project out of any one specific neighborhood. This was a part of the Bay View neighborhood when I started this project, so it still belongs here. Will I shoot it again when I get up into downtown? Probably, because by then it will have become a part of that neighborhood.

Grand Cafe Centraal

Built in 1897 and added to in 1927, the building was historically a retail location. It housed (under sever names) a pharmacy and probably several other things. Grand Cafe Centraal took over the building in 2006(?) or so and boasts the city's longest bar and one of the largest beer lists.

The Edge

Hudson Yards

Manhattan, New York City

The newly opened Edge in the Hudson Yards neighborhood of Manhattan boasts the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere. With stunning 360-degree views of New York City, angled glass walls, and a glass floor showing off the view from 100 stories above Manhattan's bustling streets, Edge's unique triangular viewing platform gives visitors the thrilling feeling of being suspended in mid-air. From the platform, one can look out over lower Manhattan and midtown, as well as the Hudson River and the Statue of Liberty. At 1,131 feet, Edge is currently the highest outdoor observation deck in the West. In comparison, the Burj Kalifa in Dubai boasts the loftiest exterior sky deck at an impressive 1496 feet.
