Today was an excellent day, and the weather far outshone that of any day previous.
I spent the morning at home then drove -- windows down -- to visit this place called Second Chance -- an architectural salvage center behind Raven's stadium. It's 4 warehouses full of incredible amazing awesome beautiful stuff. Colossal doors, rows of church pews, pulled-off-the-wall fireplace mantels, intricate hand-carved railings and spindles, period hardware, buckets of colorful decorative tile, gorgeous stained glass, and the list could go on. All deconstructed from buildings before they're demolished. If (when) I build a house, I hope this place is still around!
I could have spent hours in there. And a lot of money, too. But it must be the week for sweet deals because I got a piece of an old tin cieling for 5 bucks. It's getting the place of honor above my bed at home. Look for it in a future POD...

-Shopping with Dad and Cait: even funnier.
This pair of Hollywood regency style lion head ring pulls are made of cast brass. Pulls are center mounted and have a naturally-aged surface patina. See profile for more details.
Old cast-iron keys found in a favorite store in Little Italy, San Diego. This store carries beautiful architechiturally-salvaged items from old buildings .... we have an antique window section in our kitchen from this store.
While I was in Delavan to shoot the condemned historic building, I came across this fun artist studio just a couple of doors down. The owner, John was there and was nice enough to give me a tour. He also posts on flickr as Hetzel Collection

I used to live a bit further down this street (Southampton Way) in 1993, and I used to love walking past and seeing the strange things that were for sale
Trying to decide between this one and ImpossibleKnobSet2. Which one is better as a first photo on Etsy??? Input greatly appreciated.
Architectural salvage! I removed these from a very old Chicago house slated for demolition.
