Daily App Experiment #361 "A Day Late" - Oops, this was meant for yesterday. I took a couple #hipstamatic shots of my friend Herzog and layered them on top of each other using #imageblender (though Juxtaposer or Filterstorm would have worked too). #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #314 "Smoke Break" - I usually use the #noir app to darken the edges of a scene and emphasize the subject by lightening it, but for today's #appsperiment I did the opposite. Then I saved the result and ran it back through noir again to get more drastic results. I then used #psexpress's noise reduction and added their rainbow filter. #daily_appsperiment
- Took this photo right after reaching the Mission district last night. It's edited in Photo Factory with the "pixelate" filter. I has never realized this before but PF has two Pixelate filters. The one in the Favorites menu is actually pretty different than the main version. It has shading and beveling to create depth.
Daily App Experiment #307 "Western Lights" - This is less of an experiment and more of a flow through various apps. I took this picture of a mariachi performer a few nights ago and wanted to dress it up a bit. So I ran it through #noir to get a dramatic black and white with vignetting, then ran it through #psexpress's noise reduction to try to smooth the image out. I then layered a bit of a mural by #Reyes on top of the b&w image using #dxp. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
- Quite a few steps involved in this piece, but I'll try to break it down as succinctly as possible. I started by generating two different images in #Percolator, one "fine" and one "course with rings". I layered those in DXP, then dropped the images into Juxtaposition to separate the bowtie from the rest of the image.
- Hipstamatic is another one of those apps that I've had for months but never used. I shook the app, for random effects, then snapped a shot in the airport. Then ran that shot through #symmetry. #daily_appsperiment #
Shot at a possible mediterranean Hawaii / Shot, created and published from the device.
Part of the App me series.
Daily App Experiment #312 "Some Other Day" - Started with a photo if some lady's walking in the rain, then rain it through two different #autopainter settings. I wanted it to make it appear that the wetter areas were more "painted", so I used #juxtaposer & #filterstorm to layer parts of the various images together. After all that, I felt like something was missing, so I ditched the whole thing, but then I saw @deeashley's suggestion of the #rainydayz app, which added a rain effect on top of the image and really pulled everything together. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #165: "Cookie" - I bought my first @Ellingson painting last week (seen above). I wanted the painting to "pop" more in the above photo, so I created two copies in Camera+. One more faded and the other more bright. I then used #Juxtaposer to overlay the bright painting on top of the faded background. Sort of like a low-tech HDR. I then ran it through #SwankoLab to flatten the Image colors a little more. The weird "fold line" on the background was creates when Camera+ exported the image. It's been happening every now and then. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
- started with a screen shot from within Glitchbeam then layered it over a photo using DXP. Final color touches and border in Camera+
Giving Ariel, from Mission Mission blog, a tour of Noisebridge. This pic was created with the Magic Shutter app and a POV.
Daily App Experiment #304 "Mukendi" - I shared a photo (and story)
earlier about taking Mukendi's photo in Mint Plaza today. I wanted to
send him an awesome Postagram of the photo so I decided to play around
inside the #psexpress app a bit. I started by cropping the photo and
converting it to black and white, then I added a rainbow filter on top
of it. After that I kept alternating between "Sharpen" and "Reduce
Noise" until I got a cool posterized effect I was happy with. BTW, PS
Express's "reduce noise" feature is really dope, but fairly expensive
too (a $5 upgrade!). #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
I thought it would be fun do a series of appsperiment using the same photo, but with different effects. Since yesterday's iPhone/telescope shoot went so well, I thought I'd just try using one of my photos of the moon with different apps. The above image was created by running my moon photo through 3D Photo, which happened to have a cool spherical 3D model that lined up well with my image. #3DPhoto is neat, but I wish it would let you zoom out when saving to your photo album.
Daily App Experiment #216: "10,000" - had a cool milestone today when I reached ten thousand followers! While I was watching that number creep up, I decided to take screen shots in Instagram throughout the day and #interlace them together into one image. Thanks everyone for the follows/comments/etc! #daily_appsperiment #appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #229 : "Soon I Will Be Invincible" - I took this shot through my iPhone telephoto lens and then flipped it horizontally in Camera+. I then took the original and the horizontal and merged them in #interlacer. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #223 "Balancing Act" - snapped this pic with #Hipstamatic's Matty lens and Claunch filter, then brought it into Camera+ and created a light and a dark version of the image. I then took those images and merged them with #ProHDR. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #283: "Processing" - when running an image through #autopainterII, you can slowly watch the process of the image getting "painted". I captured each step of this process as it was happening by taking screen shots then I ran each of these screenshots (under painting, dry brush, detail, final preview) through #interlacer. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
The nighttime photo was taken from The View Lounge at the Mariott. The daytime photo was shot using HIpstamatic. The two were combined using Interlacer.
Daily App Experiment #310 "The New Hotness" Tonight I stopped by the Papalote Salsa Tasting (with @igerssf) and got on the subject of "shallow depth of field" apps. I took a shot of one these new salsas and pixelated it in #C64camera app then used #biglens to make the background appear out of focus. Btw, I LOVE this app combo! #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #112: "Lunar VI" - This week I'm posting a different #daily_appsperiment with the same source image of the moon that I shot on Friday night. Today's #appsperiment was created with InvaderCam. Similar to some of the ASCII photo apps, but this app adds tiny video game sprites.
Daily App Experiment #212: "Fireworks go here" - originally shot with #TrueHDR then I used a novelty app called #robonoview to create a Terminator-usque overlay. I then used TrueHDR again to merge the original photo and the robonoview image together. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #324 "Lost Brush Strokes" - started with a black and white portrait of a friend that I then ran through #phototropedelic. I then ran this image through #autopainterII. Kind of digging the result. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #342 "Wheels" - Shot this roller skating & bicycling duo with #hipstamatic's "Watts" lens then ran it through #NIRColor for a weird infrared-ish effect. Then ran both images through #blender's multiply layering effect. Kind of digging the washed out coloring here. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #104: "Squared" - started with an image in the #Percolator app, then ran it through #Symmetry for a mirrored effect. Then I ran it through #DotCamera for the pixel effect. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
Daily App Experiment #226: "Armer A Good Man" - shot several pics of this sidewalk using the normal iPhone camera app, then merged in #TrueHDR. I then used Camera+ for final cropping/processing. #appsperiment #daily_appsperiment
- This week I'm posting a different #daily_appsperiment with the same source image of the moon that I shot on Friday night. Today's #appsperiment was created with the DoodleBooth app, which allows you to add "stickers" to any photo.
- self portraits shot in washing machine. I used FotoMecha to shoot the quick sequential shots. Its a cool app.
Daily App Experiment #280 "Lines of cold" - started off by typing "I've got a cold" into #text2image and letting it generate some images from the text. I then ran two of these images through #interlacer and ran that result through #swankolabs two times. Finally, I took the two different Swanko filtered images and merged them with #truehdr. This all started off as a simple exercise. #appsperiment #daily_apppseriment
