The appetizer… or “the beauty and the beast”. The beauty, one anhuma (native name) on the right with 3 feet high. On the left, the beast, around 10 feet no more. Not so big but not so small too… At dawn I was driving my car through the reserve and each of them seemed hypnotized by the other. At noon, they were still face to face, motionless without taking care of the trucks and the cars nearby. At twilight, on the way back, the place was deserted except a heap of blue feathers; the last remains left by the beauty.

A pretty tame cup of lunch soup -- mostly chicken broth with a bit of cilantro and veggies in it. Disappointingly tame -- would have hoped for a little lemongrass punch or something like that.

Guam - Day 3

We had a dinner of all appetizers. Cuz you know I like the small plates.

Piroshki are a traditional meat filled pastry. I make many to freeze so the family can enjoy them all year long.

開胃菜:無花果

 

有點小失望,應該是用日本進口的無花果,味道會比較好。

Because I can't even keep Annabelle from eating dessert first, much less the kids or Ken!

This shot didn't work (because I wasn't allowed to use the flash) but Pascal said he wished he could take a picture of his plate so I took a picture of mine. This was at Roberto's near Arthur Avenue. It's squid, and a kind of smoked mozzarella appetizer, both of which were sublime...
