We got a call yesterday that my granddaughter had gotten into an ant bed on the play ground at the day care se goes too. She had 80 bites!!!!! My daughter took her to the ER, and she is fine, but just a reminder to us all....keep the kids play area safe!
These ants swarm everywhere in the house, especially at night. In the bed, in our clothes. A major pest. What species are they? We live close to degraded forest; are they a forest species? (Locn: 109.953702 E,-1.254615 N).

Ant (F. rufa) struggling with a larvae on the underside of a fallen tree. Unsure about the larvae species, probably Rhagium inquisitor (a beetle of the Cerambycidae family).
Again taken in Italy, right outside the farmhouse we stayed at while in Tuscany there were two trails of ants between the wood pile and a bush. Though not nearly as big as the ants on the driveway out of the farm enclosure, this lot kept up their organised transportation route through our whole 10 day stay.
Bog ant :-) My nephew couldn't manage "Bulldog Ant" when he was small and the name stuck. This one allowed me to share its Grass Tree.
