The answer is YES! This was incredible! I have pictures of other glaciers calving but this amount of ice was HUGE in comparison. As I was shooting in continuous mode, I actually thought to myself "Is this really happening?" It just seemed to go on and on and the amount of water that was being moved was a pretty good indicator of the amount of ice that was crashing in. As soon as this started the ship cranked up the stabilizer engines to prepare for the passing of the swell. There was a smaller tour boat off to the side of us and they immediately turned to face the swell so that they could ride it out with more stability.
According to the naturalist on board this wall was apx. 250 feet high x 250 feet wide but it was the thickness that really made the difference
