The Anna Karoline was a Jekt cargo ship based at Hopen in Lofoten. Jekts were single masted ships that for centuries transported Stockfish from the Lofoten Islands to Bergen. The trade was very significant and Bergen grew to become the capital city and centre for International trade as part of the Hanseatic League.
Anna Karoline was one of the last of her kind, built in the 19th Century she was eventually taken out of service in 1959 and is now the centrepiece of a museum in Bodø.
Anna Hulda Júlíusdóttir in her handicraft store and workshop in Siglufjörður.
Anna Hulda Júlíusdóttir opnaði nýlega verslunina “Hjarta bæjarins” að Suðurgötu 6 hér á Siglufirði, þar sem hún selur m.a. hannyrðavörur og handverk eftir bæjarbúa.
Auk búðarinnar er hún með vinnustofu og á myndinni er hún að sníða efni í KúriKúr púðana sína sem hafa selst mjög vel hér í bæ og reyndar um allt land. Svo vel að stundum er erfitt að anna eftirspurninni.
Við hlið Önnu er 30 ára saumavél sem amma hennar og alnafna fékk í afmælisgjöf þegar hún varð sextug.
If the last few days is any indication of the variety of birds that will visit here during the Winter months...I can't wait!!!

An Anna's Hummingbird enjoying a drink on this fairly unusual snowy morning in NW Oregon.
Anna's hummingbird, a medium-sized hummingbird native to the west coast of North America, was named after Anna Masséna, Duchess of Rivoli. In the early 20th century, Anna's hummingbirds bred only in northern Baja California and southern California. Wikipedia

I'm trying to remake Anna's coronation outfit. Working very very slowly, the embroidery just took me so much time...absolutely have no idea when I can finish it.

Still practicing with the Canon setup. I tell ya, there AF focus system (Al servo, Al focus) is really confusing. Nothing like Nikon. I was playing around with different settings and this is the only one that turn out OK.
These circles I believe are the reflections of the cars parked on the street, still debating if I like them

I captured this male Anna's Hummingbird mid-air as it flitted between flowers during my trip to San Diego in February. This was my first experience with these little birds and I loved it!
I was really taken by their courtship behavior. They would fly quickly to and fro about four times, then fly up to 100 feet in the air before turning and diving back down. As they dove their tail-feathers would produce this screaming sound, not loud, but very noticeable. How cool!!
Taken 14 February 2018 at San Marcos, California.
We like to think that this boy Anna's Hummingbird is one of the chicks that fledged in our yard this year. You know, one of our grandchicks. It seems the gorget (the red bit covering the head) is still filling in and maturing. Our feeder is very busy with lots of fights and hummingbirds chasing each other off. Its kind of entertaining.
This is an adult male Anna's hummingbird. They pass through the Davis Mountains of Texas in the fall.
Thanks all!
