According to Robert Whyte's "A field guide to Spiders of Australia", this charming girl is casually known as Anna's Opisthoncus. (Apparently a woman named Anna collected many of them).
I personally think this spider quite lovely!

After photographing a hummingbird and uploading two photos of that bird a few hours ago I got a couple more photos when at least two birds showed up at my home latter. I just went out into my back yard and saw two birds again but there is not enough light to photograph them. I have never before had as much hummingbird activity around my house as I had this afternoon and evening. IMG_3623
As I've said before for some reason I like a smoking photo. This is the first girl thats ever allowed me to take a picture of her smoking she was outside a pub in Alicante, I think there is a different attitude to smoking in europe than in the UK ?
Another bird that I was looking forward to photographing in Canada was Anna's hummingbird and they really delivered. There were quite a few flying around which gave me plenty of opportunities :D

The Anna's Hummingbird is a medium-sized hummingbird with a relatively short, straight bill and a long sloping forehead. Both males and females are bronze-green above, and gray below. Males are easy to distinguish from other hummingbirds as their entire heads and throats are bright iridescent red. Female have green heads, with a small amount of red on their throats. Females have black tails with white tips, while the males' tails are solid blackish-gray.

Anna is from Galicia in northwest Spain. Our paths crossed in the narrow backstreets in the central old town area of Ciutadella, Menorca’s former capital. Anna could speak very little English and I can speak no Spanish but somehow we managed to compose this shot to include this almost hidden art work in this backstreet.
