Anna's Hummingbird perched in my flowering crabapple tree. I was trying to photograph finches when I spotted this bird. After a while I concentrated on the finches, looked back to where it had been perched and found that it had silently sneaked away. IMG_0366
I sat on a log to have a rest and along came this pretty little hummingbird. I had thought I would be skunked yesterday, because the birds these days seem to be hiding from the heat.
Dublin... I shot this in 1989, where it was originally installed on O'Connell Street; according to Wikipedia the locals dubbed it "the Floozie in the Jacuzzi," with the sculptor's blessing. It was later moved to Croppies Memorial Park. The McDonald’s is still there.
After a lull in hummingbird activity in the area for several weeks, I'm thrilled to be hosting three juvenile Anna's hummingbird in my yard. They have been the sweetest joy to watch grow and thrive. They change so quickly & are now busy practicing territorial displays with each other, an adult Rufous Hummingbird male & and an adult Anna's male.

A female Anna's hummingbird sits in an oleander near one of our feeders so she can keep an eye on it. The females are a lot less aggressive than the males and we'll sometimes see up to 4 females on a feeder at once. But that doesn't mean they don't get into each other's faces every once in a while.
Ever wondered what your favourite Disney characters would be doing in quarantine? Here’s Anna! Now as we all know, our wonderful Anna can never sit still so I can imagine quarantine driving her absolutely nuts!! Haha trying every indoor activity in sight (even reading) but it just not doing the trick! But I also imagine her treasuring the family time with Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven. At least all that wedding planning may be keeping her busy too?
I hope this series brings you a little bit of joy because just know wherever you are, we are truly ALL in this together... even our favourite Disney characters are with us in spirit ♥️

1907 wurde auf dem Eduardschacht die erste elektrische Fördermaschine in Betrieb genommen.
1912 die zweite elektrische Fördermaschine.
1979 Verbund Anna I und Anna II mit Emil Mayrisch.
31.12.1983 Einstellung der Förderung auf Anna.
30.10.1992 Schließung des Verbundbergewerks Emil Mayrisch.
Anschließend Abriss der Tagesanlagen auf Anna II bis auf Verwaltungsgebäude, Kaue, Fördermaschinengebäude und Schmiede.
Heute Annapark.
