"Camerados is a social movement – which really just means that there are lots and lots of us (from Baltimore to Blackpool) who think being a bit more human is a good idea. The movement started in 2015 and the main thing you’ll see us doing is opening Public Living Rooms in our communities – welcoming, no-agenda places for folk to sit down with a cuppa, have a chat, and feel more human."

Lunch at the market consisted of a sausage barm (local name for a bread roll) and cup of tea.
Locally produced sausages. Delicious simplicity.
Eat.
My kitchen is cold enough to hang meat. So, put another jumper on.
Yoga completed for the morning.
Air fryer eggs and soldiers, with grilled black pudding. A1 sauce in the side (knocks spots off that HP rubbish).
Coffee, and a citrus shot.
Still cold but not feeling so gloomy now 😁👍

So pretty in the sun next to the towpath, shading a fantastic rose bush.
Banana Yoshimoto wrote this. Dealing with loss and love and other stuff, it was very readable and short enough for a single sitting.
Give it a go.
A nineteenth century bronze cast of Giambologna's famous statue of Mercury.
The caduceus has two snakes, which is different from the one associated with medicine, which has only one snake.
After 30 minutes the machine beeps to say it's finished. Lid off and fluffy, separate grains of rice are revealed. Electricity cost 7p and so it was cheaper than using the hob. And the rice isn't burned!

The New Zealand Fantail, or Piwakawaka. They have very distinctive movement when they flick their tails, which make you think of the stylised movements of the warrior who approaches manuhiri (visitors) to the marae as part of the challenge.
I found these lovely coasters in a local charity shop. Like me, far from home. We'll keep one-another company.
English farmhouse cheddar made from goat milk.
I bought this on special last week. It is absolutely astonishing!
Firm yet creamy. A subtle tang. Some sweetness.
That's lunch sorted.
Enjoy with some fruit and a plain digestive biscuit.
He'll not make old bones, is a saying that I heard once.
In other news, I found these memorials to Sheffield's cutlery industry yesterday for a tiny sum.
Probably wedding presents from long ago, kept in the drawer for high days and holidays.
Some say one should eat fish with two forks, others with just the fingers. Me, I've always liked fish knives.
After my apparently annual roast chicken I craved something lighter today.
Serrano ham wrapped around cream cheese and dates (Mazafati) and fried for a few minutes, with shredded pickled red cabbage and salad.
So much flavor in everything. Frugal. as befits Boxing Day celebrations.
Local elections soon. Green is seen as the lesser of the various weevils here.
From yards on this street seem to feature a great variety of maples.

One of the best things about part time work is the lack of pressure.
From my recently found fence.
I love the flaking layers of paint, like a rusty old trawler that's been hauled ashore.
The hydrangeas approach the end of this year's glorious display. I wish I could embrace aging with the same grace.
Here's a flat white. A thin layer of foamed milk. I think this is still a bit thick, but it will do. My friend said it will do; that's high praise!
In my book, a flattie should be served in a ceramic 'tulip' cup. I don't have one, so this glass will have to do. And I am happy to accept that it was invented in Australia; Wikipedia attempts to muddy the waters ('it came from UK in the 50s' - what nonsense).
