These posters were on the board during a workshop, Introduction to Marx's, "Capital". Marx's is an important analysis of capitalism, and it is interesting how Marx's analysis is commonly discriminated against by mainstream economists and academics, and in mainstream economic institutions (as well as in society generally.)

My understanding of the situation is that capitalism has fundamental contradictions that make it harmful.

I believe that the reality of the situation is that everyone is harmed by the mainstream economic structure. It is horrible to witness what people feel that they forced to do in order to compete in our system, in order to fit into the mainstream concept of success.

People make money off of war, slavery, industries that are environmentally destructive, etc..

It's an unjust and unacceptable status quo.

Another world is possible.

I attended day two of the Freedom Socialist Party (http://www.socialism.com/) National Convention at Evergreen. In the morning there were plenary discussions. The first was about race, and was titled Beyond the Myth of a Post-racial Society. The second was about labor, and how best to challenge the anti-human forces of exploitation in the workplace. I enjoyed both discussions.

In the late afternoon the convention goers had the choice of attending several different workshops. I attended one that introduced Marx's economic analysis, "Capital."

I really enjoyed the workshop, it was my first real substantive exposure to Marx's analysis of the theory of capitalism. It was eye-opening.

I have long been skeptical of capitalism.

I look forward to learning more about Marx's analysis, and I am prone to thinking that capitalism ought to be ended, in favor of a system that reflects the virtuous human values of justice, equality, environmental stewardship, social stability, fairness, kindness, caring and compassion.

I think that a better world is possible, and I think the world will be better when resources are distributed equally, when the products of industry are used to serve the mutual uplift of all people, when people realize the value of a caring and loving community, and when people learn to share, and cooperate, in order to fulfill a collective vision of a stable, secure, prosperous, harmonious, just, and peaceful world.
