A cyanotype I made with stills from the opening scene of the awesome movie Repo Man--featuring a police officer vaporized by a mysterious alien weapon or something.
Five-layer gum bichromate print from digital negative (approx. 6in x 6in). First 4 layers in neutral tint were "thin" (low pigment:gum ratio), building up tonality. Final layer in phthalo blue, normal pigment:gum.
Van Dyke contact-printed from a digital negative onto Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper. Original photo made with a Leica M2 on Ilford HP5+ film and post-processed with Adobe Lightroom CC.
All three stages of development for a single cyanovellum: latent image, developed image and bleached image.
Another gum print of the same image using a single negative. Four layers: maroon perylene, phthalo green, Davy's gray, and olive green. Yielded a rather odd color scheme, and this print shows more shadow detail than the other. But now the highlights? Be patient-- I'm still learning!
