This is almost the same shot as the one I took from the train 47 years previously! I am standing on part of the bridge support. Vegetation now dominates the scene and the main line is invisible. A part of the road bridge over the canal can just be seen and the gable-end on the right is common to both pictures.
I'm *this* close. I have all the caulking left to do, as well as the shoe moulding that joins to the stall shower.
I'm out of time until next week. It's usable as is though. I can't wait to use it tomorrow morning to get ready for work!
justin, his mama and i all stayed in a yurt in carmel on our way to point reyes. we booked it on airbnb, and like always, it came through for us.
After 2 and a half years I was able to visit Malapascua island again. It was quite a pleasant return.
A view of Bounty beach as we were approaching to dock. Bounty Beach is the name of a stretch of beach along the southern shore. It is the main beach of the island where most of the upscale resorts are found. Cocobana Beach Resort, the largest on the island, the pricey yet exquisite Sunsplash Resort, and Hippocampus Resort are some of the popular resorts that offer excellent accommodations and dining options. Most passenger boats to and from Cebu land at Bounty Beach.

Now this one has to be the best yet, or maybe second place.
Many thanks to Michael Hawkins www.flickr.com/photos/michaelshawkins/ for the spot.

"The Erasmusbridge" ("De Erasmusbrug") is a cable stayed bridge across the Nieuwe Maas river, linking the northern and southern halves of the city of Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The Erasmusbridge was designed by Ben van Berkel and completed in 1996. The 808 metre long bridge has a 139 metre-high asymmetrical pylon, earning the bridge its nickname of "The Swan".
The southern span of the bridge has a 89 metre long bascule bridge for ships that cannot pass under the bridge. The bascule bridge is the largest and heaviest in Western Europe and has the largest panel of its type in the world.
The bridge was officially opened by Queen Beatrix on September 6, 1996, having cost 165 million Dutch guilders (about 75 million euro) to construct. Shortly after the bridge opened to traffic in October 1996, it was discovered the bridge would swing under particularly strong wind conditions. To reduce the trembling, stronger shock dampers were installed.
Back in April 2007 is was announced that a new tram bridge would be constructed at Spencer Dock: "A bridge almost as wide as it is long will be built across the Royal Canal at Spencer Dock, in the Dublin Docklands, to carry the planned Luas line from Connolly Station to the Point."
The bridge located on Mayor Street and designed by London-based architects Future Systems and Arup Engineers is now the centrepiece of a linear park along the canal and is located near the major road bridge over the River Liffey by Santiago Calatrava.
A few minutes before the fire hit the sky, the colors were a bit more like melon. This one includes a bit more sky and treeline.
This fine little boat was built by Michel Gaudin, of Jespersen Boat Builders, from a design by Paul Gartside.
I made it back from my road trip to Alabama last night. I stayed mostly busy while I was out there so my camera never made it out of the bag...shame on me. I enjoyed the (much needed) break from work. My parents are doing well. John is awesome. South Alabama still hasn't changed.
I snapped this with my phone about 30 miles outside of Austin on the way home last night. Even though it was still 100 degrees at 8pm and I had to leave loved ones back in Alabama, I was glad to be almost home. If nothing else, Texas does have spectacular sunsets. Oh yeah, and The Moose was glad to see me. :)
This week: Seasonal lights and seasonal vibes. Seasonal crowds and seasonal rush.

Sorry I haven't been around much. Been busy doing stuff around the house and looking for a job. :-) First time I've picked up the camera for anything significant since my son's last football game on 10/6/2008

Met my friend Erik at The Columbus Zoo for a few hours of shooting. Also met Erik's friend Rob and his friend Lisa for the first time. And our friend Jeff (who doesn't use Flickr and just bought a 40D) joined us.

This little deer was almost hidden from my view, of about 20 deer. I even had the chance to backup to get the pictures of them that I took.

Almost came a few times (and Sandy did make a little gesture hinting at her overwhelmed and touched state, but she was strong and kept her composure)... even later on in the evening when she confessed that she neared tears with our group. In a follow up communication, she confessed that she did get a little choked up that night (without the stare of my camera; is it bad that I was trying to encourage her to release those inner emotions so that I could capture it in digital?). Boo to me.
The happiest of birthday wishes to an amazing lady who's changed many of our lives - one kick, punch and kia at a time. Seriously??? Seriously.
