Four neatly aligned circular depressions along the edge of a plateau just above Hapi Valley. (Image taken from ESA's 22 January Cometwatch page entitled "More Change in Hapi?")

It seems hard to believe that this neat arrangement could be the result of outgassing from subsurface ice. The arrangement bears more resemblance to the innumerable series of 3 to 5 perfectly aligned and juxtaposed "drill-holes" which can be seen in every image of the comet, at every scale, with diameters ranging from millimetres up to tens of metres. The circular depressions in this photo are clearly in the latter category and strongly resemble the rows of aligned, often overlapping "craters" seen everywhere on Mars, as here: www.thunderbolts.info/wp/2012/12/12/martian-electric-augers/.

They are more probably the result of a moving electric arc discharge, like the drill-holes.

It took a lot of patience (and a lot of mis-timed attempts) to get these all lined up. Working windmills at Zaanse Schans, not far from Amsterdam. Each mill grinds a different substance. One grinds mustard, one produces oil while another produces pigments.

24, 25, and 26 May 2023, Barcelona – The Union for the Mediterranean, in collaboration with ANIMA Investment Network will organize a Conference on “Aligning investments with sustainability and corporate responsibility – The digitalization of impact measurement’’, in Barcelona (Palau Reial de Pedralbes) with the support of the German Development Cooperation and EBSOMED.

Investments, particularly Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), are intended to contribute to the socioeconomic development of host countries by creating decent jobs, generating income, favoring technology transfer and skills development, and boosting productive sectors and services, among other advantages. However, not all FDI necessarily positively affect environmental and social aspects when it comes to their own business model and impact.

Worldwide commitments, for example, the Paris Agreement on climate change, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the EU Directive on Corporate Sustainability Reporting, set out a series of principles and guidelines which promote environmental sustainability and social inclusion. In this framework, it is crucial for Business Support Organizations and Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) to scrutinize investment projects based on sustainable international standards to prioritize those which are economically profitable, environmentally sustainable, and socially inclusive.

In this context, this joint Conference will be the occasion to showcase several initiatives aiming at driving private investments towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals as well as to have an exchange on how to use concrete tools to assess their performance in terms of economic, environmental, and social effects.

This event is intended for participants from the UfM countries representing:

Public institutions, private sector and business support organizations

Investment Promotion Agencies IPAs

Investors and international financing and development institutions

Think tanks and Research Centers

The UfM will sponsor up to 30 participants from non-EU countries based on their profile and geographical and gender balance. Selected peopled will be contacted in due course.

Deciding between invisible aligners and metal braces is a pretty easy one if you qualify. However, there are several different at-home invisible aligner providers and choosing one can be difficult. To make things easier, we created this infographic to showcase how Impressions stacks up compared to other at-home invisible aligners.
