HAPPY ALIEN DAY!!! smile emoticon Hope everyone has a chance to celebrate in their own way! For me it feels like everyday is Alien day in one form or another. LOL!

Sculpt/Build progress on the Narcissus Shuttle/Stowaway - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Completed the build of the sleeping stowaway, the next step is to fill the gaps. If you think assembling a hand made, articulated figure is difficult, try assembling a static posed figure in a sleeping/resting position and make it look convincing. It takes a heat gun, temperature and time...and timing is everything. Mess up, right back to casting replacement parts to the point where I just took a day and cast parts exclusively so I wouldn't be delayed again.

The shell of the Narcissus wall panel continues to progress. Looks rough right now but for it being only a structural build without detailing it's acceptable. The figure will be removable from the back of the diorama if need be. I also completed the dome portion of the tower build for the shuttle.

The image of the Alien is my 300th work in progress shot since I began sculpting the beast. It's been a heck of a run and I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the Big Chap...but the crew isn't complete and my ALIENS project is only beginning so the work continues.

More to come! #alien #alienday #narcissus #shuttle #nostromo #aliens #stowaway #sculpture #diorama

Alien autopsy

The alien autopsy was a hoaxed medical examination and dissection of a dummy depicted in a 17-minute black and white film released in 1995 by London-based entrepreneur Ray Santilli. He presented it as an authentic autopsy on the body of an extraterrestrial being recovered from the 1947 crash of a "flying disc" near Roswell, New Mexico. The film footage was allegedly supplied to him by a retired military cameraman who wished to remain anonymous.

In 2006 Santilli admitted the film was not authentic but rather a staged reconstruction of footage he claimed to have viewed in 1992, which had deteriorated and become unusable by the time he made his film. He claimed that a few frames from the original were embedded in his film, but he never specified which ones. In 1995, before being exposed as a hoax, the film was sold to television networks and broadcast in more than 33 countries.

My least favorite of the bunch. This was the worst of the Space Police alien designs and it's little improved here. The purple spacesuit is nice enough, but the legs really should have been printed too. At least the gold raygun and purple laser are nice touches.

these are the aliens attacking my stomach, or at least how i imagine them. they are cute but evil.

i started this in illustrator tonight after dinner. my mom decided the little guy descending my esophagus needed to be 2 shades of purple and green. hehe.

anyway, it's not done yet. i'm still working on the details/shadows/etc. but i think it's silly :p

The second of two semi-static posed figures is complete. This version depicts the creature as it appears in the deleted "crab-walker" scene from the 1979 film as Lambert and Parker make a desperate attempt to escape the Nostromo. This deleted scene however was thought comical by many, not well executed on film and revealed too much of the creature...reducing it to nothing more than a man in a rubber suit...something Ridley Scott was avoiding by using smoke and shadow.

Hand sculpted, hand painted. 1:18 scale. I borrowed resin cast parts from the original Alien figure I created a year earlier, made modifications to the torso, neck, shoulders

and legs.

When crouched or "crab walking", the figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. When standing, the figure is approx. 5.25" high, still not fully erect as the leg and hip joints limit the full motion (again, this was originally meant to be a static posed figure). Fortunately I was able to add several articulation points to the figure: Ball jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable. The tail is static but is attached using a revoltech joint and can be switched out with a longer tail option.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

Got a much better shot of a component for an in-process MOC (a project which has stalled worse than my 16-year-old truck).

I love doing large humanoid builds. Before my dark age, two-legged robots were my bread and butter, so to speak. I'm not used to doing something this small, though. Nor was I prepared for the difficulty in trying to simulate bones without skin. Overall, I'm relatively pleased with the bag-o'-bones...except for the head. I'm still not happy with its skull.

By the way, this little fella is a throwback to a Lego theme of days gone by. Anyone want to take a guess what he is?

LOL - Now that I'm going to deal in Amsoil, I figure I will pump as many of their products into this Trike, to show potential buyer's that I'm also a user, as well. I plan on putting these DECALs on the Trike, to advertise AMSOIL. Under the AMSOIL logo with be these words "In Their UFO's" - Same alien green color. I've just not cut that decal out yet....... :)

A follow-up on the progress to the Warrior Alien head sculpt. ALIENS 86 - 1:18 scale. Some smart phone shots showing the sculpt from several angles - still a work in progress. Should have it complete tonight.

The torso you see here will be a total re-sculpt....presently it's a casting from the Revoltech figure. Helps with scaling/proportion. The lower abdomen piece however is a cast of an original sculpt from my 79 Alien. I can get away with using it for the Warrior but the upper torso will be a complete, original re-sculpt as I hate borrowing parts when I have the ability to create them myself these days....

If you have the ability and time, sculpt it.

I still have to borrow articulated joints and extremities such as hands from time to time...especially with the human figures, but when I can sculpt it myself I will do so...

...and with the Warrior alien finally moving forward, others are sure to follow...Ripley, Marines, Newt, Burke, Bishop.....Queen(cough,cough)....

We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical.

After being visited by so many aliens, the little green blobby creatures wanted to explore where their visitors had come from. In order to make sure they had all they needed to survive on an alien planet, the little green blobs developed a terrarium rover for exploring other worlds.

The Klendaythan are a species I created for the comic. Ambassador Shayloo (the one with the blue eye and most in focus) appeared some years ago and all three pictured here will appear in an upcoming episode this year. For those who don't read the comic, the Klendaythan, though a bit scary looking, are pacifists.

No no, the aliens are not stealing my teapot. Ahah luckily for them because otherwise I would pursue them to the end of galaxy to recover it.

Eh non, les extra-terrestres ne sont pas en train d'enlever ma théière. Ahah une chance pour eux parce que sinon je les poursuivrais jusqu'au bout de la galaxie pour la récupérer!

A 'Treehouse' game set from Looney Labs.

Shot on a glass cake tray with a 580EXII at 1/64 under the plate to my left, aiming up, remote fired with a Cactus radio trigger. The room was full daylight, and I stopped the flash and camera to drop the background light levels into the black (50mm at f/10, 1/200 exposure).

This strange creature made a stop on my balcony on its journey through the universe.

My LEGO version of the iconic 1979 ALIEN Xenomorph.

This has been an exceptionally challenging and and mind-expanding build. Working from references to create these organic shapes was a wholly new type of MOCing for me. I learned soooooo much during the late nights tinkering away at this guy.

Also, sorry for the delay in posting the shots of this bad boy. I had to move right after the convention and hadn't gotten a chance to photograph it. I still want to work on it further and finish up the bust ( if not the whole thing! ) someday. Again, I hope to have a REALLY pro photo setup again soon, fingers crossed for a home-loan and the perfect place to move into.

Comments and feedback much appreciated!
