Lungvando means a stone reaching heaven. A very tall beautiful chiselled stone pillar, about 75cm in diameter and 6m in height(before it was broken), is found between Biate and Lungdar in the eastern part of Serchhip district. Legend has it that in ancient times this stone pillar was very tall, almost touching heaven and hence nothing could go in between. Once a peacock squeezed into it and got crushed into pieces. This pillar is believed to be the memorial stone of a chief of the Biate tribe who once were residents of this area before the advent of the more powerful Lushei group.

Do you love to sit back and relax with a view like this ? Breathing the freshness, letting the aura around destress you and hypnotize your senses to feel nothing else but happy - that is what I felt, after trekking up the Reiek peak. At a 3 hours drive from Aizawl, this place I am sure would be even more beautiful during the rains. A second time experience is on my list !

The history Mizoram is incomplete without the mention of Changsil on Tlawng river.

Somewhere here on Tlawng river, about 33 Km from Aizawl, on Sairang - Silchar road, was a ferry ghat known as Changsil or Bepari Bazaar where the traders from the plain were allowed to come and trade their goods on regular basis. This trading station was said to have been established in the year 1873. It was directly under the control of Suakpuilala, Chief of Reiek. Later on, a cantonment was established by the invading forces. In course of time this place became the lifeline for supply of goods and transport for northern part of Lushai Hills while the southern part depended for communication through Tlabung/Demagiri to Chittagong.

The whereabout of the location of the place is marked by the image in comment column below.
