Well, Winter is almost gone and it's getting pretty warm out here . It's only a matter of days that Spring will set in- bringing much relief to the temperature and to the vegetation. In anticipation, here is a "Dahlia" flower for my flickr friends from my archive.
Common Sailer (Neptis hylas) butterfly.
With the last upload and the present ones I have come to a stage when I have to upload the shots for the sake of completion of the collection and not necessarily for their beauty(not many left). BTW, both the present ones are SOOC.
This moth with an onlooker outside the glass wall was captured at night with the help of Speedlight SB 600.

Have a lovely Sunday, everyone.
Butterfly in winter eking out a living:ID:Purple Emperor (Mimathyma ambica): Butterflies sans flowers look incomplete. However, I think this colorful one with yellow proboscis, found in a house-construction site in front of my house, needs to be shared.(P.S. It has been observed eventually, contrary to my initial conclusion, that quite a number of varieties of butterflies depend on the moisture of the soil for their survival, irrespective of the season)
Have a lovely Thursday, everyone
I love the Himalayas and I guess the Himalayas love me.:-) I was back in the mountains again when we visited the north-eastern state of Mizoram for the first time in our lives last week.
I took this shot on top of Reiek peak,a tourist spot some 29 kms from Aizawl,the capital of Mizoram.That is my husband Sanjay in the shot.We were at an altitude of around 5000 feet here.To reach this peak we had to trek about 6-7 kms from where we had parked our vehicle and back.Initially the trek was gradually uphill through deep forests but the last bit was very steep.However the view over the surrounding mountains and valleys was worth it.I guess our tenure in Shimla and all the walking we did in the mountains there helped me to reach this place.:-)
Hummingbird Hawk-moth captured in a rare stationary pose.The fastest of them all.The perfect flying machine, it zooms like a jet fighter and stops at mid-air like a chopper(SOOC).Another shot(captured with DSLR and cropped) is posted in the comment column below.
TGIF and I'll be missing another passion which is fishing( fav. way to spend Saturdays when in Shillong). Instead, spare a moment and have fun, watching and listening to this song on fishing

You have shared with me so many golden sunsets. For a change, let's share morning scenes captured from three diffrent places at diffrent points of time during the last 6(six) months or so.

Have a great weekend, friends.
This owlet (Barred Owl ?) strayed into our house and sat comfortably on the keyboard of my computer. The strange thing about owls is that they can't rotate/move their eye balls like we do. they have to turn their neck for any little change in the direction of their vision.

When daylight comes, comes in the light;
In front the sun climbs slow, how slowly!
But westward, look, the land is bright ! "
