An overcast and dull day on the S&C back in 83 and green liveried Class 40 40122 (D200) was working the 10:40 Carlisle to Leeds. Ais Gill was my selected location and despite the conditions the Fuji 400 managed to register on the camera, just!.

Passing Ais Gill in lovely weather 47536 works a diverted Glasgow to Euston train. I seem to recall these diversions would go on for several weekends - happy days!

Maunsell 4-6-0 Class S15, No E828 approaches Ais Gill on a Pathfinders Railtours southbound Cumbrian Mountain Express which originated from Salisbury to Carlisle. The loco was built in 1927 and withdrawn from BR in 1964. Currently owned by the Eastleigh Railway Preservation Society and one of three S15 that have operated on the mainline. 7th May 1994.

I'm not a great fan of "Sheds" however even this pair was hard to turn my back on as 66093+66058 double head 4C03 12.29 Washwood Heath - Carlisle NY sleepers past Ais Gill in the evening light.
