last images of the aftermath of the monsoon, brought about by converging two low pressure weather disturbance north north west of the philippines. these images of a mcdonalds resto located near marikina river whose car park was nearly submerged by rising river water. glad to inform you that the weather since yesterday has vastly improved and today we finally get a glimpse of the sun, however, in areas that were heavily affected by the flood, are now declared calamity zones and doing massive cleanups. this is an image of television crew reporting from the top of a bridge the effects of the flood

Last night at 3am we were awakened by a car horn honking intermittently just outside our bedroom window. Rowdy teenagers? Refugees from the downtown bar scene after last call? Someone's car intrusion alarm? Nope, nope, and nope.

Somehow a large black bear had opened the front driver's side door of my wife's Honda Element (muddy paw prints smeared around the door handle implicate this door), climbed inside, and managed to lock himself in. Finding no food, he proceeded to tear the car apart trying to get out. From our bedroom window we could see the car rocking and hear crashing sounds coming from inside.

After graciously offering the opportunity to my wife (as a true gentleman would, of course) I walked out to the car, tried to open the hatchback, found it locked, and returned to the house for the key.

Upon hearing me working the key in the lock of the tailgate, the agitated bear leaped to the back of the car, inches from my face with only glass and darkness between us, and began pushing against the glass. After a bit more fumbling with the latch, I managed to open the back hatch and scramble for the front porch as the bear squirted out the back of the car and disappeared into the dark woods.

The car's interior is trashed. Most of the damage is to the inside of the driver's door and the surrounding moldings, although there are broken parts elsewhere in the car, too. There are also several piles of poop on the upholstery. The horn we'd heard was from the bear bumping against the horn button in the steering wheel as he was tearing at the door, trying to get back out by the way he'd gotten in.

The fate of the car now lies in the hands of the insurance company and the Honda dealer's body shop. Meanwhile, we're down a vehicle and we have company coming next week.

Our Daily Challenge: hmmmm, how about "The Way Out" and "Containers"? (since we don't currently have challenges open for "Vandalism", or "Aftermath", or "Soiling Ourselves")

Shirts, socks, shoes, cups, and other odds littered the hotel room floor.

Teenagers were stuffed in corners left and right. Some in beds, some in chairs, some on the floor.

Sleep flooed their eyes. It had been a good day.

The wave just passed over. This guy is David.

Taken from the walkway above the beach.

Right before I took this one she was rolling around on her bed, hence the messy hair. I asked her to look up at me & this is what I got. I only wish that it didn't look so posed because it wasn't at all.

After the extensive flooding of fairways yesterday, today (21 February) only pools of water remain on Buchanan Castle Golf Course. This is the view over the 16th and 15th fairways.

I took a wander round the corner to the site of a large warehouse fire which happened on 15th January. The whole warehouse area has collapsed in on itself and I find the rust and mis-shapen metal fascinating. I felt a little voyeuristic taking these shots, but everyone got out safely. I'm not sure I could have taken them had there been injuries
