25.02.19. Lots of snow left to deal with. Snow clearing crews are just starting to deal with. My walkway looks like a canyon at this point.

This is a scan of the small sketch-painting of what my bigger assignment will sort of look like. I know it's not that great. So yeah.

The aftermath of a large condo building fire. It was started because of improper disposal of a cigarette on a balcony. The result was devastating. All 106 homes destroyed and $16.3 million in damages. Thankfully, no humans were killed or seriously injured. I'm not sure about non-humans however (since media tends to not care about that)

We finally cleaned out our closet today -- this was what was left behind after identifying clothes that could be donated.
Not a great shot but watched this bald eagle attack a blue heron and wanted to document it with its prize. Richmond, BC

Aaaand - my Rose Thrill Hill after my last Bikepacking Race - the Atlas Mountain Race. Photos at the finish in Sidi Rabat just before giving it a first wash. Now part 2, the landscape format shots.
As I’ve written: extremely satisfied with the performance of the bike and my modifications, hacks and bodges for the race. Not a single mechanical throughout the race.
Another Topeak Ninja Cage for below the down tube makes it 3 for the whole bike. And the Power2Max powermeter with a Wolftooth 32 tooth chainring and XTR cranks. Looks pretty nasty in that baked in dust but worked like a charm. Minor niggles with the P2M spider: I had to source extra short chainring bolts and even shorten them some more as the recommended and also sold by P2M bolts wouldn’t lead to a proper mounted chainring. Loved the pedals also.
Goes well with the Morocco theme. Everything is tone in tone and predominantly ochre. ;-)
Last night at 3am we were awakened by a car horn honking intermittently just outside our bedroom window. Rowdy teenagers? Refugees from the downtown bar scene after last call? Someone's car intrusion alarm? Nope, nope, and nope.
Somehow a large black bear had opened the front driver's side door of my wife's Honda Element (muddy paw prints smeared around the door handle implicate this door), climbed inside, and managed to lock himself in. Finding no food, he proceeded to tear the car apart trying to get out. From our bedroom window we could see the car rocking and hear crashing sounds coming from inside.
After graciously offering the opportunity to my wife (as a true gentleman would, of course) I walked out to the car, tried to open the hatchback, found it locked, and returned to the house for the key.
Upon hearing me working the key in the lock of the tailgate, the agitated bear leaped to the back of the car, inches from my face with only glass and darkness between us, and began pushing against the glass. After a bit more fumbling with the latch, I managed to open the back hatch and scramble for the front porch as the bear squirted out the back of the car and disappeared into the dark woods.
The car's interior is trashed. Most of the damage is to the inside of the driver's door and the surrounding moldings, although there are broken parts elsewhere in the car, too. There are also several piles of poop on the upholstery. The horn we'd heard was from the bear bumping against the horn button in the steering wheel as he was tearing at the door, trying to get back out by the way he'd gotten in.
The fate of the car now lies in the hands of the insurance company and the Honda dealer's body shop. Meanwhile, we're down a vehicle and we have company coming next week.
Our Daily Challenge: hmmmm, how about "The Way Out" and "Containers"? (since we don't currently have challenges open for "Vandalism", or "Aftermath", or "Soiling Ourselves")

Right before I took this one she was rolling around on her bed, hence the messy hair. I asked her to look up at me & this is what I got. I only wish that it didn't look so posed because it wasn't at all.
