A bunch of kids thought the flat roof of a school would make a good launch pad for May weekend rockets. Their enthusiasm was not shared by everyone and the EMS were called. The kids had scarpered before anyone got there. Here, the responders wrap up the evening.
I really do love cheap plain white dishes, in minimalistic designs (like old-school round or square). The key word is "cheap". Like Ikea-cheap. So you can have fun with them without worries.
I do also have nice porcelain with a gold border design. They are gorgeous and they have never ever seen the light of day :)
Prompts: Did you see the frightened ones? Did you hear the falling bombs? Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue sky?

Seems that the recent storms around here have somehow re-awakened my sleepy muse. Inspired by the wave of unsharpness on Flickr lately (check out the master: Arkady Renko), I'm trying my own spin by opening up wide (1.8/f) in contexts usually not suitable for such a short DoF. I really like the feeling of intimacy and isolation this creates. I ended up keeping a good 2/3 of the pix I took on this dreary day yesterday, which is a phenomenal ratio for me.
Weeee! More to come soon...
Brisbane Ranges National Park is dominated by the remains of the trees killed in fires in 2006.
There were some lovely clouds around and I took a number of shots trying to capture the trees against those clouds. This is the one I was happiest with.
So it turns out Toast’s objective was to throw Syrup into a spiky bush. We’re still trying to get her out at the moment. Sounds like Toast’s getting scolded by Waffles.

In June this church near where I live caught on fire. Here is the aftermath. I don't remember hearing if they ever found the cause of this fire. I am not religious so this place is actually most well known to me as somewhere cops like to sit and enforce the slow 35 MPH speed limit on Abbe Road!

I took a wander round the corner to the site of a large warehouse fire which happened on 15th January. The whole warehouse area has collapsed in on itself and I find the rust and mis-shapen metal fascinating. I felt a little voyeuristic taking these shots, but everyone got out safely. I'm not sure I could have taken them had there been injuries

Something different today, since it is almost Halloween...
Disturbing image portraying the aftermath of a terrible tragedy, and the awakening on "the other side".
Technical notes:
Background HDR photograph taken in Issaquah, WA.
Body-bag 3D model by Chaobell. Rendered in PS CS4 extended.
Awakening Ghosts created and rendered with Poser 8.
Arthrogram Aftermath 6/8/2006. The most painful day in my entire existance. The orange is the ontiseptic wipe, the dark red dot is from the needle.
The white is my sling, and the Torc is my Bear one i've named BERND.
Nearly 10 years on, parts of Christchurch are still feeling the effects on the earthquakes. This is about 2 blocks from Cathedral Square - there’s nothing happening in this building, and the one to the right of shot is fenced off.
Powerful artwork from the web. It implies that the man on the ground is unable to continue due to the beating the other man has just put on him! That makes me shudder and offer myself to him.
This is a picture that my father took in Cologne, shortly after WW II (1950, to be exact). I scanned an old worn out photo print and retouched the damaged parts.
The scene shows Cologne's cathedral in the background, the brewery Brauhaus Sion that still exists today (white building), and the Jan von Werth memorial at Altermarkt (left). All the other buildings in between these landmarks had been destroyed in the air raids, and the debris had been removed by the Trümmerfrauen.
Today, when you stand at Altermarkt, you can see just the tips of the cathedral, that wondrously outlasted the air raids, though partly damaged.
The sunlight was streaming in through the kitchen window this morning, beautifully illuminating the remnants on the counter from some tasting over the last few days. These Aril Syrahs were lovely, especially the Napa estate bottling.
Shot with the Fujian 25mm/1.4 wide open on the OMD EM5ii. Minimally processed in Workspace and Affinity to retouch some dust and do a little gentle dodging and burning.
Today the Hereios of the We're Here! group are having a Party.
The party was great but recovery will take a while.
[The overflowing litter bin was in our local council playground, which has been closed since March.]

A U.S. Army Soldier stands guard inside the Justice Center building in Farah City. The Justice Center in Farah City was attacked by terrorists on April 3rd, 2013 - it was one of the worst attacks and subsequent loss of life in Farah's history.
This is how I imagine the group of newly formed rebels to look from Chuck Wendigs novel SW Aftermath based on the tropical jungle planet of Akiva.
Character info from left-right:
Norra Wexley, mother of Temmin Wexley and ex-rebel Y-Wing pilot who flew & fought at the battle of Endor also making the death star run through the internal construction maze of the space station. She was traumatized by the event unlike others who saw it as a triumphant relief. During her rebel career she left her son Temmin to grow up with his 2 aunts.
Temmin Wexley: A budding tech genius and owner of his own workshop at a young age he built the old B1 Battle droid Mr.Bones as his personal bodyguard. He enjoys searching for scrap & fixing things. Later Temmin would join the New Republic fighter corpse nicknamed "Snap" then opt out to really make a difference to the growing threat of the FO by joining Leia Organas Resistance group alongside friend & fellow NR pilot Poe Dameron .
Mr.Bones: Temmins reprogrammed B1-battledroid companion/bodyguard is creepy & deadly but cool. Temmin fitted him with a combat chip which data is the fighting style of general Grievous combined with the movement of a Twi'lek dancer. XD
Jas Emari; Is a Zabrak bounty hunter & niece to the bounty hunter Sugi. She is an expert sniper & loves to use her slug thrower rifle!
Sinjir Rath Velus: Is an ex imperial officer turn lowlife who then becomes part of the rebellious group.
What do you see in this image? I've started puting in some notes of what I see, but what about you?
