I remember these somewhat vaguely but they were some of my brother's favorites. He was always into those Mechwarrior games and whatnot so this was right up his alley. That's the leader in dead center, JT Walsh, and I'm pretty sure Colleen there is his girlfriend. These would have unbelievably cool had they been 1:18 but unfortunately they are only about 3" tall or so.
My new favorite place-- Cornucopia, WI. Annie and I spent four days here-- playing on the beach, admiring Lake Superior, picking blueberries and raspberries, kayaking into caves and through archways, exploring Bayfield, venturing into Corny for pizza night (Wednesdays at the Ehler's store), etc. Lovely.
I've always love A-Frame structures, this is nestled in the mountains along side a large beautiful pond.
Architect: William Krisel for Palmer & Krisel (1957)
Client: Dr. Canby
Location: 6576 Van Nuys Boulevard, Van Nuys, CA
Photographer: Julius Shulman
William Krisel sent this series of photos to me after seeing the photos of tiki architecture that I posted recently. I see a strong hint of tiki here, and that "Outrigger Room" only serves to reinforce that impression. Also, I have seen this building credited to Armet & Davis. It is not by Armet & Davis, although that firm did design other restaurants from this chain.

This vintage "Chosen" postcard features a likely staged image of a boy carrying stuff, plus fowl, on an A-frame. A monochrome version may also exist.
