Afraid of the dark
True darkness is when you cannot see. I never take any of my senses and abilities for granted. This became even more evident to me the past couple of months when my husband could not see well enough to drive. Two days ago he had surgery and is on his way to seeing clearly again.

"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."

Who's afraid of Virginia Wolfe? Well apparently nobody, because she doesn't exist anymore!
"Adeline Virginia Woolf was an English writer, who is considered one of the most important modernist 20th-century authors and a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device."
Woolf? Anyhow, like always there's a few thousand articles to be found about Virginia WOLFE.
Be very afraid ...
Have you ever seen a kid pack their bag? Or backpack? There is no rhyme or reason to it. They just throw stuff it and hope it closes. "Stuff" also includes trash ... see the brown napkin in her bag? Yeah ... that's just one of the few pieces of trash in there.
By the way, I was in their room last night and discovered a bag of trash from Wednesday. There was a rotten banana peel in it along with other junk that they ate the first day. When I asked why they hadn't thrown it away, they both said, "The trash has no plastic bag in it! What if you're in the bathroom and you smear poop on the side of the trashcan?" OK, what does this have to do with throwing away your trash? They wanted to know why the bathroom trash cans weren't lined and I said, "it is an Asian thing." They looked at me and chuckled.
I was afraid you'd hit me if I'd spoken up
I was afraid of your physical strength
I was afraid you'd hit below the belt
I was afraid of your sucker punch
I was afraid of your reducing me
I was afraid of your alcohol breath
I was afraid of your complete disregard for me
I was afraid of your temper
I was afraid of handles being flown off of
I was afraid of holes being punched into walls
I was afraid of your testosterone
I have as much rage as you have
I have as much pain as you do
I've lived as much hell as you have
and I've kept mine bubbling under for you
You were my best friend
You were my lover
You were my mentor
You were my brother
You were my partner
You were my teacher
You were my very own sympathetic character
I was afraid of verbal daggers
I was afraid of the calm before the storm
I was afraid for my own bones
I was afraid of your seduction
I was afraid of your coercion
I was afraid of your rejection
I was afraid of your intimidation
I was afraid of your punishment
I was afraid of your icy silences
I was afraid of your volume
I was afraid of your manipulation
I was afraid of your explosions
I have as much rage as you have
I have as much pain as you do
I've lived as much hell as you have
and I've kept mine bubbling under for you
You were my keeper
You were my anchor
You were my family
You were my saivour
and therein lay the issue
and therein lay the problem

Another taken on Holkham Beach. This was a nightmare to process as the image was mainly highlights and the horses were virtually black (as they were in deep shadow). I had to burn in the sea to give it some contrast.
All of these things
I've held up in vain
No reason nor rhyme
Just the scars that remain
Of all of these things
I'm so much afraid
Scared out of my mind
By the demons I've made
Sweet Jesus, you never ever let me go
