Not afraid of working upside down, this Hairy Woodpecker is busy feeding on this dead limb. Similar to the Downy Woodpecker, the Hairy Woodpecker is slightly larger with a longer bill and some subtle colouration differences.

Santa-Bikers are not afraid of snow and sub-zero temperatures! Every year they will pull out their motorbikes, put on red hats and hit the streets of cities to infect with the holiday atmosphere and good humor.
“Don’t be afraid of your fears. They’re not there to scare you. They’re there to let you know that something is worth it.” C. JoyBell C.
Next to the coast of Sligo, in the town of Mullaghmore, we can capture one of the most evocative images of Ireland. The scene with Benbulben Mountain, the road through fields full of cattle, and Classiebawn Castle, looks more like a painting than a real scene.
When I asked my wife to walk along this road to be part of my photograph, I did not realize that the image could refer to the famous horror stories associated with roads and ladies dressed in white. At that moment, I simply imagined that her presence would add even more beauty to the composition, I saw her as a princess dressed in white who was walking around her beautiful castle under the golden light of sunset.
I never liked scary stories, I always prefer to face my fears and try to overcome them. Of course, there are situations more complex and harsh than others, but often with our mental strength we can cope with many of those fears and limitations that exist only inside our heads. The benefits that derive from those small internal successes fully justify the effort involved in this confrontation.

... And in the moment you're afraid
It's that fear that lets you know that you're alive
[ ERAUQS ] - Bakar Sweatpants @EQUAL10
...that something wonderful is about to happen.
Love your life.
Believe in your own powers,
and your own potential,
and in your own innate goodness.
Wake every morning
with the awe of just being alive.
Discover each day the magnificent,
awesome beauty in the world.
Explore and embrace life in yourself
and in everyone you see each day.
Reach within to find your own specialness.
Amaze yourself and rouse those around you
to the potential of each new day.
Don't be afraid to admit
that you are less than perfect;
this is the essence of your humanity.
Let those who love you help you.
Trust enough to be able to take.
Look with hope to the horizon of today,
for today is all we truly have.
Live this day well.
Let a little sun out as well as in.
Create your own rainbows.
Be open to all your possibilities;
all possibilities and Miracles.
Always believe in Miracles."
I found this text in a profile of a female Düsseldorf flickr member and it has deeply touched me. So far I haven't found her in my favourites, but I will post the link as soon as I have!
P.S. Here she is! ;-) www.flickr.com/people/ch_e11/
When you love, you afraid of losing.
When you fear of losing, you lose.
When you lose, you afraid to love.
Kun rakastaa, pelkää menettävänsä.
Kun pelkää menettävänsä, menettää.
Kun menettää, pelkää rakastaa.
is not afraid of anything
not insects, crawling biting things
not mountain tops, from many fall
not heights, though very tall
not grizzly bears with claws so sharp
not steep and rocky dangerous scarps
not loneliness, although it hurts
not being stranded in dry deserts
not getting lost or feeling pain
not being stuck out in the rain
not being giving up upon
not staying awake until the dawn
not fighting or losing a good friend
not reaching her untimely end
not falling and scraping herself up
not being seen from very closeup
not living or dying completely alone
not being made out as a fool
is not afraid of anything
but you.

♫ That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane
Lenny Bruce is not afraid.
Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn,
world serves its own needs,
Dummy serve your own needs. ♫
Feed it off an aux speak, grunt, no, strength,
The Ladder start to clatter with fear fight down height.
Wire in a fire, representing seven games, and a government
for hire at a combat site.
Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furys breathing down your neck.
Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered cropped.
Look at that low playing.
Fine, then.
Uh oh, overflow, population, common food, but it'll do to Save
yourself, serve yourself.
World serves its own needs,
listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right, right.
You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched.
♫It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. ♫
Six o'clock - TV hour.
Don't get caught in foreign towers.
Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn.
Lock it in, uniforming, book burning, blood letting.
Every motive escalate.
Automotive incinerate.
Light a candle, light a motive.
Step down, step down.
Watch your heel crush, crushed, uh-oh, this means no fear cavalier.
Renegade steer clear!
A tournament, tournament, a tournament of lies.
Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline.
♫It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. ♫
The other night I dreamt of knives, continental drift divide.
Mountains sit in a line, Leonard Bernstein. ♫
Leonard Brezhnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom!
You symbiotic, patriotic, slam bug net, right? Right.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel
fine...fine...♫
[Fheannag (fyann-ag) Scots Gaelic word for Rook]
At Girvan Beach, last day of 2017.
It was a stormy, windy day, and here, a slight lull in the incessant downpours saw a whole parliament of these critters appear next to my car - hoping for juicy morsels, no doubt. Short shrift, I’m afraid...
While I’ve always thought of crows and rooks as being a wee bit sneaky, dirty and opportunistic (never one to anthropomorphise...) with a whole host of negative connotations, I understand they are very intelligent. Coupled with this, their feathers aren’t just mat black, but in turn purple, indigo, green and blue. Well, on these merits, I decided to include this guy in my photo stream. Also because he was quirky, comedic and a right wee chancer!

Thanks to Tanya Kostina for help in distinguishing the Rook from the Crow.
Afraid of being outshone by the Rock in the "Race to the Bottom", the L&N fielded this impressive display of E6's at Louisville, KY in the 1960s. I give it 7 out of 10.
Little did either know, the Milwaukee was hiding in the wings prepared to pounce...and the Montgomery Burns Award For Outstanding Achievement in the Field of Excellence remains unclaimed.

I took a little vacation last month and photographed in the everglades (FL) this gorg crocodile. it was so cool to me to see how relaxed they were regarding of tourism around them. having said that, this is what inspired this creation.
My life in constantly changing and soon major changes are happening!!! this photo represents my feelings. The unknown is what we as humans fear the most. I am not afraid, just excited about the future.
So I was awake and decided I would go for a predawn walk and wait for the sunrise, and it brought to mind all this Halloween nonsense; ghosts, goblins, zombies, and monsters.
Nonsense.
I ain't afraid of no ghosts.
Later, as the faint light began to show in the east, I came across a cemetery.
Whoa......that gate wasn't open just a second ago. What's up with that?
Why is it foggy all of a sudden? It wasn't foggy a couple seconds ago.
What was that noise in the leaves, no really, what was that?
Oh man, it just got chilly.
Hey, is someone there?
Why did that tombstone just teeter?
Why is that gate creaking, there's no wind.
Are those Coyotes I here? It's blood-curdling.
Those are definitely footsteps in the leaves.
What was that glint?
Oh no..............not that?
Noooooooooooooo.......................

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we see
No I won't be afraid
No I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darling, darling stand by me
Oh, now, now, stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon
Should tumble and fall
And the mountain should crumble to the sea
I won't cry, I won't cry
No I won't shed a tear
Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darling, darling stand by me
Oh, stand by me
Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me
Oh, now, now, stand by me
Oh, stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
Darling, darling stand by me
Stand by me
Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
