I had to change into warmer clothing for the winter months!
Now that it is getting closer to 2025, I am thinking of doing a 365 project that will feature a Lego a day?
I've seen others that do it and I think it is a great photo project!

After photographing the Tokyo skyline from the island of Odaiba, I had to return to the city using the automatic train of the Yurikamome line. I had seen photos similar to this one of this and other trains in cities like Singapore or Taipei, but never tried any. This time I did not want to pass up the opportunity to get a very different image to what I usually do.
I had to wait for a couple of trains filled with people before, and "third time lucky", I had the front of the train for me alone. There was no time to lose, as the best photos are achieved when the train is passing under the tunnels. After several failed attempts, I finally got the image you see and with which I was really satisfied. To do this, we have to open the diaphragm and use speeds around 1 second to get the best results, although it depends on many factors such as the speed of the train itself. Not having something like a lenskirt, I had to prop the lens hood against the glass and cover the sides where the light came in with my hands, thus avoiding the lights from inside the train that caused horrible reflections and ruined the shot. One of the things I love most about photography is that, little by little, new things are always being learned.

Después de fotografiar el skyline de Tokyo desde la isla de Odaiba, tenía que volver a la ciudad usando el tren sin conductor de la línea Yurikamome. Había visto fotos parecidas a ésta de este y de otros trenes en ciudades como Singapur o Taipei, pero nunca había intentado ninguna. Esta vez no quería dejar pasar la oportunidad de conseguir una imagen muy diferente a lo que suelo hacer.
Tuve que esperar a que pasaran un par de trenes llenos de gente antes, y a la tercera fue la vencida, tenía la parte delantera del tren para mí solo. No había tiempo que perder, ya que las mejores fotos se consiguen cuando se está pasando bajo los túneles. Después de varios intentos fallidos, por fin conseguí la imagen que veis y con la que quedé realmente satisfecho. Para realizarla hay que abrir el diafragma y usar velocidades entorno a 1 segundo son las que dan para mí los mejores resultados, aunque depende de muchos factores como de la velocidad del propio tren. Al no tener algo como una "lenskirt", tuve que apoyar el parasol contra el cristal y cubrir los laterales por los que entraba la luz con las manos, consiguiendo así evitar las luces del interior del tren que provocaban reflejos horribles y arruinaban la toma. Una de las cosas que más amo de la fotografía es que aunque sea poco a poco, siempre se están aprendiendo cosas nuevas.
In several places in the Azores, I encountered feral domestic chickens. On the Island of Terceira, this young hen in the nature park on Mount Brasil didn’t seem to have a fear of humans. She came right up to me unlike many of the other chickens in the park.. The were lots of chickens and some Guinea fowl on Monte Brasil.
The squirrels in the park in Bournemouth get fed by people so they are never afraid of getting close. This one had dirt all over it's nose
THIS tree is a tree that has fascinated me from the first time we drove down the road to see the home we have since purchased. Even then ...even if we didn't get the home...I had it on my list to photograph...Through Summer, Fall there were so many times that I was going to stop but didn't...sometimes I'm afraid an owner would feel "violated" that I was photographing something on their property so I drove on...BUT from the road I just couldn't resist the fog...the unusual branches I had to stop. One Click and I drove on..I never do just 1 click..:)

Some of you might have known already, but my daughter has been being bullied by her classmate. She had injured twice last October and last December by the same boy and needed to go to hospital twice. Each time, it took 2-3 weeks to recover. She has been hit by the boy in a daily basis since last September. Sometimes my daughter was hit by the boy even in front of her homeroom teacher. However, her homeroom teacher did not make him stop hitting my daughter and the boy kept hitting her in front of the teacher. The teacher even did not inform me anything about my daughter being bullied. No wonder my daughter felt helpless. The boy has been bullying at least 8 more kids other than my daughter since three years ago. My daughter is traumatized by the bullying. She is suffered by the bullying not only physically but also mentally and she is afraid to go back to school. However, school did not do anything much and let the boy bullying in daily basis. There's no discipline, suspension or expulsion against bullies in public schools in Japan. There are still strong prejudice against foreigner, mixed-race children, children who have single parent or illegitimate children. And the most public schools tries to hide the facts that there are so many bullying, violence, stealing and prejudice going on from the board of education. The situation of school children in Japan is terrible.
I am trying to get more attention on the bullying and violence in my daughter’s school from some higher authority in order to protect my daughter. So, I have been so busy, I am not able to come to flickr often or even do no have time to take photos. I hope I could get some help and get some peaceful results.

I'm afraid I don't know a lot about the origins of this brooch. It's made from metal and has paste stones, so it's not worth much, but I find it attractive. It probably dates from the first half of the 20th century. The base is a vintage postcard from the 1910s.
For this week's Looking Close... on Friday group theme, Jewelry on a Paper Background - or Jewellery for those of us in the UK. :)
Postcards are made from cardstock, which is a heavy form of paper.
