1935 Duesenberg Model J Dual-Cowl Phaeton
The Duesenberg Model J, affectionately nicknamed the “Duesy,” continues to represent anything truly great or grand today, regardless of the chosen spelling. It was bankrolled by E.L. Cord and designed from the outset to be the world’s finest car. When the Model J debuted at the New York Auto Salon on December 1, 1928, its launch dominated newspaper headlines.
The Model J’s visually impressive, 420-cubic inch, dual overhead cam, inline eight-cylinder engine featured a free-breathing, four-valve cylinder head, and it could develop 265 brake horsepower in normally aspirated form. Other remarkable features found on the Model J included a fully automatic chassis-lubricating system that operated every 30 to 60 miles, excellent two-shoe hydraulic drum brakes, and complete instrumentation, which included a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, an altimeter, an eight-day clock with a split-second stopwatch hand, and more. In short, from its introduction to the present, the Model J marks the crowning achievement of the Classic Era.
Stunning in cobalt blue and khaki, the Duesenberg features biscuit tan leather coordinated with blue carpets. Enthusiasts will note such eye-catching accessories as six chrome wire wheels shod in wide whitewall tires, dual tail lamps, dual spotlights, and dual Pilot Ray driving lights.

This stunning car was captured at the 2018 Geneva Concours d’Elegance……..and I do mean, “captured” in that I brazenly removed the ID placard from its windshield, unlatched the plastic chain from its pylon, moved the pylon and politely asked surrounding spectators to please do not walk in front of me while I am talking a picture. Of course I carefully replaced everything that I had removed, moved and/or instructed “not to move”…………. Hey, I'm only going to be on the earth so long. While I’m here, I am going to do what it takes to get a decent picture! Later as the mob of people increased considerably, I would have had to resort to more extreme measures…….which I reconsidered in the name of “better judgement”.
Sure hope “someone” enjoys this artwork - I did it all for you’all……… ;)

Deck the halls with space-based bubbles!
Here is a festive bauble you will not see on Earth: a bubble produced by the Multiscale Boiling experiment, known affectionately as Rubi.
In this image, electrostatic forces are pulling the bubble upwards and making it spherical, producing not only a cool image but also cool insights into the boiling process.
Understanding how boiling behaves in weightlessness is imperative because gravity plays an important role. Without gravity, boiling takes place in slow motion and produces larger bubbles. This has allowed scientists to observe and measure effects that are too fast and too small on Earth.
The experiment is also installed with an electrode to observe the effect of an electric field on the bubbles, enabling scientists to observe and quantify the effect of external forces.
“Boiling is an extremely efficient way of getting rid of excess heat. This research could therefore provide very valuable information for improving the thermal management systems in space as well as in terrestrial applications,” says ESA project scientist Daniele Mangini.
With this insight and more accurate calculations of the boiling process, products such as laptops can be improved and made more compact.
Built by Airbus for ESA and housed in the Fluid Science Laboratory in the Columbus module, Rubi was installed by ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano in August 2019. Since then it has generated bubbles under controlled conditions using a special heater.
The bubble imaged above is a follow on to the highly successful experiment. Called Multiscale Boiling X, the science on-going over the holidays is looking further at how things keep cool.
In the meantime, stay warm and stay safe!

Have you said, "I love you", to your Mother, lately? Or your children? Your husband? Your Father? ... Your precious someone?
:)
That precious moment is right here, right now... Don't you think?
(Behind-the-scene: A bubble-blowing afternoon with little Cara. We were at the backyard, of course. Wasn't too chilly that's why I was brave enough to bring her out.:P Lotte's pink camellias are in full bloom. And what happens when we Flickrites see colours? :P So I saw this. Hovered above and took some pictures then went below and behind it like I did with this Gumamela. Saw the yellowed leaf, and yes, the green. It looked very affectionate how they appeared through my lens. Adjusted my EV, selective-focused on the flower, and leveled the screen. With the pink bloom set - "Snap!")

One of my favourite Spanish cities. I've removed the pylon and wire clutter so this is not how it looks but how I remember it.
With a borrowed P&S and some hefty Photoshop.
This couple sat together, holding hands, gazing into each other’s eyes for what felt like an eternity (at least for the 20 minutes I was there).
As the sun began to rise, this mated Great Blue Heron pair began an elaborate "dance". Each heron took turns puffing out their feathers, stretching their necks high and low, and spreading their wings. This intimate interaction was incredible to witness.

Affectionately called “Columbus Eclectic,” the combined architectural elements of Greek Revival, Gothic and Italianate come together to form a most welcoming style. Beautiful woodwork, mirrored glass doorknobs, a three story cupola and even original bedroom closets add to its allure. Mr. & Mrs. Dick Leike / National Register
Known affectionately as the "longest bar in the world," the Düsseldorf Altstadt is a square kilometer of vibrant history and social energy. Within its narrow, cobblestoned streets, you’ll find over 250 pubs, restaurants, and breweries, many of which serve the city's signature Altbier - a dark, top-fermented lager. The atmosphere is a unique blend of Rhenish conviviality and architectural charm, where centuries-old buildings house lively crowds that spill out onto the pavement, regardless of the season.
Beyond the nightlife, the Altstadt serves as the cultural soul of the city. It is home to landmarks like the Schlossturm (Palace Tower) on the Burgplatz and the twisted spire of the St. Lambertus Basilica. Just a few steps away from the bustling bars, the district opens up to the Rhine Embankment Promenade, offering one of Germany’s most scenic riverfront walks. Whether you’re visiting for a quiet afternoon of museum-hopping or a high-energy night out, the Altstadt perfectly captures Düsseldorf's "work hard, play hard" spirit.
We found this affectionate family hanging about 6 metres high on the ceiling outside our hotel room in Wonosobo, Central Java. The temperature could drop very low in the morning and It was amazing to see how the mother keeps the babies warm and comfortable.
But, what about Jeany, the lovely jealous old cat?? Hmmmm….How about them together??? Well, things at the beginning were really tough! A direct aggressive stare of Jeany , directed into his eyes , and a funny strange meawing, was enough to make him leave at once! He recognized that this house was HER territory!
But I started cuddling them together at the same time..I moved Jeany’s food belongings upstairs, and showed them where EACH one SHOULD eat from now on…
You can see him here at moments, when suddenly Jeany appears in the same room with him ! Her look and his look!! Looking straight at each other! Being together in the kitchen..They are so funny….I hope they eventually tolerate each other and become friends!!! Tolerance!! Another magical word apart from Love!
A lively mix of two of England's storied working Terriers, the Jack Russell and the Yorkshire, the Yorkie Russell is a small, energetic dog with a big personality. They are sweet, affectionate dogs with a playful attitude and are constantly seeking attention from their owners. Even maxing out at only 15 inches tall, these pint-sized pooches have no reservations when it comes to exploration, as their Terrier-bred nature means they are often brave and inquisitive, which can also get them into trouble.
Lulu is a border collie mix... very, very bright dog! So bright she gets bored very easily and goes looking for trouble. Her peeps were away for a week and she pooped in the house after chewing up some paper towels just before this shot. Bad girl!! =))
She's also very, very loving and affectionate, so I easily forgave her. Too cute! She lives with Rusty, the bernese moutain dog, who is a complete angel!

This looked like a family hanging out together. Observing the wild mustangs was such an amazing event, I appreciate them much more now. I hope they can continue to live and be free out in the wild west. (they have been through a lot, check out all the marks and scars on their bodies and legs)
Why is the Beverly Hills Hotel famous?
Affectionately known as the 'Pink Palace', The Beverly Hills Hotel is famous for legendary service and legendary guests. Over the last century, Hollywood stars have enjoyed the timeless glamour of this dramatically beautiful setting, drawn in by the relaxed surroundings and seamless service.
The Beverly Hills Hotel was established in May 1912, before the city's existence. The original owners were Margaret J. Anderson, a wealthy widow, and her son, Stanley S. Anderson, who had been managing the Hollywood Hotel. The original hotel was designed by Pasadena architect Elmer Grey, in the Mediterranean Revival style. From 1928 to 1932, the hotel was owned by the Interstate Company. In 1941, Hernando Courtright, the vice president of the Bank of America, purchased the hotel with friends including Irene Dunne, Loretta Young, and Harry Warner. Courtright established the Polo Lounge, which was for many years the premier dining spot in Los Angeles, hosting entertainers ranging from the Rat Pack to Humphrey Bogart and Marlene Dietrich
The song "Hotel California" by the American rock band the Eagles is slightly based on the folklore behind the hotel. The cover of the band's album of the same name features a photo of the hotel itself.
We have affectionately named this moose, "Bruce the Moose." He has visited our yard for four years in a row now, the first two with his mother. We are not sure where he goes when he is gone, but he will come back on occasion and is very comfortable with my wife and I. (not so much with our dog) While taking his photos, he will walk towards us, ears forward, not pinned back. We refuse to try and touch him or feed him because we do not want him to associate humans as kind individuals.
He does me a favor by eating the young willows, if he only knew that I would pay him for his services!
We both hope Bruce will visit us for many years. However, moose are hunted each fall and the chances of a moose this close to houses makes his chances of living a long life very low. I hope he beats the odds.

This photo was taken at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It's the first zoo I've been to where they allow you to pet and feed the giraffes. There is a boardwalk surrounding their habitat which is at the perfect hight to allow them to put their heads over the railing to grab food, clothes, cameras, etc.

Affectionately known as 'Billy' at the ELR, 4002 is one of a pair of Hudswell Diesel-Electrics which were used by the Manchester Ship Canal Company as part of their extensive fleet operating around Trafford Park.
The pair were numbered 4001/2 at the MSC. Sister loco 4001 also survived for many years as a static non-operational exhibit at the Winfields Store site at Acre Village (between Haslingden and Accrington) however the loco was cut up in 2018 as it was in a poor state. 4001 has donated many parts to allow 4002 to live on as a working example. Information from East Lancs Railway diesel web site. Billy is seen here with a demonstration photographic train at Castlecroft diesel depot
The Puginese is a mixed breed dog a cross between the Pug and Pekingese dog breeds. Affectionate, sensitive, and independent, these pups inherited some of the best traits from both of their parents. Puginese dogs go by a few different names, including Pekeapug and Pugapeke.

Affectionate, happy, hard-working. Never a complaint from her.
Now three months shy of her 12th birthday.
Affectionately referred to by most as "The Bean". It was a splendid playground for photographing: lots of laughter and amazement.
They’re fluffy, independent and affectionate, and while cats require much less attention than dogs and often keep to themselves, owning a cat or kitten can provide multiple benefits for your health. Whether you own a friendly lap cat ,the sense of companionship and love you have for your pet can be just as enriching as any other friendship.
Irish Doodles are a hybrid dog breed that was created by mixing a breed with a breed. Irish Doodles inherit a mix of genes from each of their parents that give them their unique and fun personality. This breed is very active, fun, and intelligent. However, they can also be very affectionate and love spending time with the people they care about. Since Poodles have a non-shedding coat, Irish Doodles are also hypoallergenic and rarely, if at all, shed. Irish Doodles are the result of an Irish Setter being bred with a Poodle.

Rusty was born in 2004 when the children from the Dowerin District High School developed a project initiative to encourage people to stop in Dowerin.
The students helped with his initial design, sourced funding for his materials and employed an artist to build him.
The students were inspired by the legend of his home, the Tin Dog Creek, which originally got its name during settlement in the area and the commencement of mining in the Yilgarn Goldfields.
The story goes that settlers in Northam started using the surrounding land to feed and rest their stock during winter and driving them home when the feed started to dry off.
A track was opened up as a result of this, leading to Moujakine, Yarragin and Eunuin.
From Goomalling onwards, the road followed a chain of water soaks, one of which became known as the 13-mile soak. The miners who were on their way to the Goldfields would leave their empty tinned beef cans (affectionately called ‘tinned dog’) by the water soak, thus Tin Dog Creek got its unique name (S. Gervas 1997).

Elegant. Proud. Clever. The Poodle is an impressive dog, as the many best-in-show winners from this dog breed can attest. But behind the blue ribbons, impressive hairdos, and regal attitude, you’ll find an affectionate family dog with an ancient history and many talents. Intelligent, loving, loyal, and mischievous are four words Poodle enthusiasts commonly use to describe the breed's personality.
All my animals are very affectionate but Squirty just goes beyond affectionate. He is the most 'in ya face' kinda cat i have ever owned and I mean that literally.
As a small kitten he was obsessed with my face and still is, he is getting better but at about 4am every morning he will lay on my face, around my neck, put his nose on my mouth anything to be really, really close to me.
If he get's tired and I am home in the middle of the day he will find me and paw at my face and give me head rubs until he is just too tired to stay awake any longer.
He is so darn cute and loveable. I have to say his affection has helped the hurt of losing Beaker.
