Stetson has been a delightful, dapper young pup and is so affectionate and smart. He loves his grizzly but I am afraid this grizzly will not last too long. Another "Tuffy" toy that has proven not be so tough.
Mafuta is a rescued Serval based at Emdoneni Lodge. It is a cat rescue and aims to promote cat conservation. At present they have Servals, Cheetahs, African wildcats and Caracals. The animals they rescue cannot return to the wild as many were rescued as previous pets. However, they do breed and progeny are carefully reintroduced back to the wild.
Mafuta in particular was rescued as a pet.... his previous owner couldnt cope with him when he became a teenager. I remember him clearly when I visited 5 years ago. I took a low key image of him with his keeper. He's certainly very affectionate with keepers and guests.

Affectionately known as "The Mayor of Beck Street" Bob suffered a stroke about 6 years back that has effected his walking, but not his talking. He is always eager to fill us in on the latest gossip or to tell us an off color joke.
I tried to kept the same light, the same mood they lives in... it`s incredible how those animals are friendly and gentles... when I was there, that special lady was talking to them all the time... and most of the animals were gots so close to me, I was suprise the way they were intimately, affectionate... :|\\
Speirs Point is a hidden gem located on the South Arm of the Alouette River where it meets up and joins the tidal Pitt River.

A pair of Brown-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus brunnicephalus) was swimming in leisure while keeping a close distance. Here the ambience and the romantic posture of the birds created a delightful composition. The Bokeh here made them look further charming. Pics was taken from Purbasthali wetland, West Bengal, India.
The Atlantic Puffin (Fratercula arctica) is the undisputed star of Lunga. Affectionately nicknamed the "sea parrot" or "clown of the sea," these charismatic birds spend most of the year isolated at sea, returning to the cliffs of the Treshnish Isles each spring to breed.
The Lunga Experience
Unlike many seabird colonies where birds are distant or flighty, the puffins on Lunga are remarkably approachable. Because they have no land-based predators on the island, they show little fear of humans. If you sit quietly on the grass near the cliff edges, puffins will often walk right up to you, sometimes passing within inches of your boots as they tend to their nests.

We waited for an hour and a half for a gap in the clouds, so that beautiful warm light fell on the mountain and its surroundings. The colours in winter are truly stunning.

8th July 2013 - Vickers VC.10 C1K 'XR808' (affectionately known as Bob) of 101 Squadron departs Waddington airshow. She is now a museum exhibit at the museum at RAF Cosford.
This tree is affectionately called by locals, the Summerfolk tree because it stands at this spot where the annual Summerfolk music festival is held in our city. I have photographed it in many seasons and in different lights so it is always a challenge to capture it in a unique way. One huge limb broke off several years ago. The tree struggles to survive despite what Mother Nature throws at it. This was just a few days ago when we had our final dump of heavy snow. It’s the first time I have seen the tree this buried. Even the geese and ducks sank in the snow as soon as they landed near the tree. The Marina range light can be seen in the distance on the horizon that shows more snow coming.

Dana, my parent's foster greyhound, has become very affectionate and close to their other greyhounds. She always likes to rest her head on their backs. She is such a sweet and loving dog, I hope she finds a deserving home

Red Tail Hawk I have been following since he was a 'pup'. He hanging out in local park we walk in mornings. Sitting on railing as people pass by or hopping around on grass by pond, sometimes oblivious to us walkers. Gives me a hissing noise or stare down when I point camera, then remains doing funny antics. Bit of a moody fellow.

An affectionate name for this bridge, which at high tide becomes completely surrounded by water.
It spans Biel Water, where it runs into the ocean at Belhaven, on the east coast of Scotland.
This was a little earlier in the evening than my previous post, not quite as stormy, with a hint of colour.

This little guy was affectionately named Buttons by the park staff at one of the campgrounds we stayed at on Vancouver Island. Although he ambled quietly towards our campsite at 6 pm both nights we were camping, he never bothered searching for food on our site. We had tucked all our food away in a locked metal bin on site. He simply climbed up the same tree as we watched him from a comfortable distance on our little deck. After observing him for a few minutes, I realized he was after the few apples hanging in the tree. He took a few bites from several apples and I waited until he showed himself in this opening in the branches. I was able to frame him nicely with a few apples hanging in view. When he was done, he would carefully and slowly slip down the tree trunk and amble off into the woods again. I wish all raccoons could be so polite. I have just this week put up the bird feeder in my back yard for our winter birds. I am hoping our backyard raccoons have gone to sleep with our recent snowfalls and will leave the feeder alone.
NGC 1566, affectionately known as the ‘Spanish Dancer’, is the second brightest Seyfert galaxy visible in the sky as well as one of the closest to us. Seyfert galaxies have a very luminous nucleus with many of the characteristics of a quasar.
Nestled within the heart of the Dorado Group lie NGC 1553 and NGC 1549, positioned in the bottom left of the image. Another galaxy NGC 1546 is located near the bottom left corner of the image.

In 1936, Jungle Gardens founder E. A. McIlhenny (affectionately known as “Mr. Ned”) received a magnificent Buddha statue as a surprise gift from two of his friends in New York City. After discovering the statue in a Manhattan warehouse (where it had sat unclaimed for years), they shipped it to Mr. Ned by rail - hoping that it would find a suitable home among the Asian flora of his gardens.
Mr. Ned created a beautiful shrine set within an opulent garden for the Buddha, which is said to be more than 900 years old. The Buddha quickly became a focal point for visitors and still serves as a centerpiece at the Gardens. In recent years, the shrine has become an active place of worship for local Buddhists, who conduct a number of ceremonies there throughout the year - most notably on Buddha’s birthday.
It was the next morning and as I got up I gingerly examined my knee. The swelling had gone down, so perhaps it was a one-off and today there would be no issues. Ten minutes, and some light walking around inside the cabin said otherwise. My knee ballooned up again. There was no way I’d be walking the ten kilometers round trip to the waterfall we had planned to visit in the morning. “Go on without me” I told Dom and in true Clarkson, Hammond and May spirit he left me behind :D It wasn’t all bad as I got to finish that thriller book I had bought with me, hobbled around just outside the cabin trying to take the odd photo and then preparing the evening’s dinner (roasted potato wedges, pork tenderloin, fried apples and a chanterelle and port wine sauce if you were wondering).
After a couple of hours Dom had come back from his solo hike. “Rubbish waterfall” he declared again. I wasn’t sure if he was trying to be nice to me or if it was some code word for “excellent”. Turned out to be the latter. Yet another place to add to my ever increasing “places-I-must-visit-when-back-here-again” list. I wasn’t too sure if I could make the afternoon short hike to Storulfossen again even with the help of walking sticks. That was when Dom came up with the genius idea of driving down to the town of Otta and seeing if I could buy a knee support today and not tomorrow when we planned on an outing further afield. Why didn’t I think of that? And why was Dom suddenly turning into a copy of my wife and coming up with brilliant solutions to my problems? We had a quick bite to eat and packed our camera bags and headed down the short path to the car.
Now some of you might know I have quite a fear of heights. In fact, the first time I met Dom in Cornwall he led me over a narrow path with long, almost vertical drops to the death either side that he affectionately refers to as the “ledge of doom”. It still sends my heart racing away as my knees quiver when thinking about it even now. So I was, to say it mildly, a little nervous to be sitting in the passenger seat of my car as Dom drove. It wasn’t his driving that made me nervous rather the very, very long drop a couple of meters to my right. Only a few rows of trees were between me and, at places, a 500 meter drop down into the valley that Otta was situated in. The views were stunning but I found myself looking down at my feet more and more. I was subconsciously moving closer and closer to Dom. I’m glad he didn’t think I was making a pass at him as I leant more and more over the gear stick and onto his side of the car. Soon we had safely made it into Otta where Dom dropped me off at a shopping center and I headed in to see if I could get a knee support. I found the pharmacy and waited for my turn to be served. Once my number was called, I asked in Swedish if the woman could speak English but surprisingly she said she couldn’t so I continued in Swedish with her talking Norwegian. Thank goodness the two languages are quite similar to the point that I could understand the majority of what she said and fill in the blanks when unsure. She was most helpful, not only supplying me with an amazing knee support but helping me offload over 700 Norwegian kronor for it. Norway doesn’t come cheap. But as soon as I put that support on I knew I would be alright. I walked out to Dom with a spring in my step and we headed back up to Mysusæter, with the drop now on Dom’s side of the car so I could relax a bit. Just a little, mind. I really don’t like heights.
Of course once we had parked the car we started taking pictures of, well, everything. Small cabins by a lake with glorious mountains behind, lone trees (again) and rain storms thundering along in the distance. We finally arrived at the double waterfall again knowing that they’d take up most of our time and boy did they deliver. It was soon after taking this photo that I noticed another photographer had joined us. And he had the most beautiful dog I had seen, at least in Norway….
Mating Gannets at RSPB Bempton Cliffs. The male had been coming and going a number of times until the female finally relented, he was a bit aggressive though.
Seeing winter fade into spring has me revisiting the past years loot. Heavy flock (snow) and bright morning sun all the way up the Continental Divide are a feast to the eyes; not only for me but also the crews of an eastbound manifest @upztrain and @coolahan3 on an incredible morning at Crescent, Colorado affectionately referred to as one of the best views for crews in North America. .

Two lions - brothers - photographed in the Timbavati Nature Reserve in South Africa. It forms part of the amazing Kruger National Park. Seeing this affectionate behavior in the wild was both a privileged and emotional experience for me. I will never forget it.

Yes, I have a king-size bed. And yes, this is how we sleep. Dusty is by far the most physically affectionate dog I have ever known. He's a hugger, a cuddler, a pillow hog.
Notice how I am pushed up against the wall. Dash, bless his heart, is on the far side of the bed blissfully happy to be left alone.
Yes, my beard's a mess and I'm a bit out of focus. But, as Dusty would point out, HE should be the focus. And, he is.
