Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus), Denver, Colorado, Rocky Mountain Front Range

This is Olive as Janet so affectionately named her, she was the hardest working mum you could have ever wished for. After the sudden disappearance of the male, she battled on with raising the three Owlets, working literally day and night finding food for them (I know this, as the trail cam picked up every food delivery) I have no idea when she slept, she was constant !!

All this is said in past tense, as she is no longer alive. Last Monday (6th) she was hit by a vehicle we think. After placing her up by my hide, she managed to fly up into the hedge, we were hoping she was just a little bruised. After nearly week of no sightings of any kind we feared the worst, but on Saturday evening she was down on the floor just feet from the hide. I whisked her immediately to the vets, but with all the virus restrictions, I just had to leave her at the door. I was promised a call on Sunday, to give me an update. Well, the call came, but it wasn't good news, she had a broken shoulder and had to be put down. Heaven knows how she flew on that Monday.

Would I have done things differently in hindsight..... I don't know. I was thinking of the three Owlets she had. It was like she came to pass them into my care.

I'm doing my best for them Olive !!!!

I'M NOT A FAN OF MOVING IMAGES UP, BUT A FEW PEOPLE HAVE SAID HOW THIS IMAGE DIDN'T SHOW ON THEIR CONTACT PAGE, SO APOLOGIES TO ALL THE PEOPLE I ANOY.

Mafuta is a rescued Serval based at Emdoneni Lodge. It is a cat rescue and aims to promote cat conservation. At present they have Servals, Cheetahs, African wildcats and Caracals. The animals they rescue cannot return to the wild as many were rescued as previous pets. However, they do breed and progeny are carefully reintroduced back to the wild.

Mafuta in particular was rescued as a pet.... his previous owner couldnt cope with him when he became a teenager. I remember him clearly when I visited 5 years ago. I took a low key image of him with his keeper. He's certainly very affectionate with keepers and guests.

Mafuta also likes the camera. Photographed at Emdoneni Lodge - Zululand cat conservation project - Kwazulu Natal, South Africa.

A pair of Brown-headed Gull (Chroicocephalus brunnicephalus) was swimming in leisure while keeping a close distance. Here the ambience and the romantic posture of the birds created a delightful composition. The Bokeh here made them look further charming. Pics was taken from Purbasthali wetland, West Bengal, India.

it was a brilliant golden afternoon.

I just stood at the historic bridge and looked at the captivating scenery.

everything was so quiet and affectionate just like an oil painting.

I finally knew why the book wrote: Venice is the city of falling angels.

bcuz it really is.

Affectionately known as "The Mayor of Beck Street" Bob suffered a stroke about 6 years back that has effected his walking, but not his talking. He is always eager to fill us in on the latest gossip or to tell us an off color joke.

I tried to kept the same light, the same mood they lives in... it`s incredible how those animals are friendly and gentles... when I was there, that special lady was talking to them all the time... and most of the animals were gots so close to me, I was suprise the way they were intimately, affectionate... :|\\

Affectionately known as Stac Polly by the Scots.

We waited for an hour and a half for a gap in the clouds, so that beautiful warm light fell on the mountain and its surroundings. The colours in winter are truly stunning.

Thank you in advance for your interest and comments on my photos. That is much appreciated.

Please view at the full size of 1600. It's also more pleasure for you.

This tree is affectionately called by locals, the Summerfolk tree because it stands at this spot where the annual Summerfolk music festival is held in our city. I have photographed it in many seasons and in different lights so it is always a challenge to capture it in a unique way. One huge limb broke off several years ago. The tree struggles to survive despite what Mother Nature throws at it. This was just a few days ago when we had our final dump of heavy snow. It’s the first time I have seen the tree this buried. Even the geese and ducks sank in the snow as soon as they landed near the tree. The Marina range light can be seen in the distance on the horizon that shows more snow coming.

Throttling up one last time as they cross over Morgan Creek Trestle, a 7 Work Train with 10 ballast jennies return to Eagle Mills after dumping stone in various spots on the hill all morning. The train will call Eagle Mills here and request permission from the operator before entering the yard to tie up. The ballast jennies are old ore jennies that still run on friction bearing trucks, as these were all delivered to the LS&I. All operating jennies on the railroad have been retrofitted with roller bearings and are affectionately called "pigs in a blanket."

Watching the different relationships each cow have with one another is really interesting. Just like humans they have their own clicks.

This was the first time I saw these two interact so affectionately and it made me happy because i initially thought they were both loners.

An immensely strong, heavy-duty worker of spitz type, the Alaskan Malamute is an affectionate, loyal, and playful but dignified dog recognizable by his well-furred plumed tail carried over the back, erect ears, and substantial bone.

Affectionately named Scorpio.

Red Tail Hawk I have been following since he was a 'pup'. He hanging out in local park we walk in mornings. Sitting on railing as people pass by or hopping around on grass by pond, sometimes oblivious to us walkers. Gives me a hissing noise or stare down when I point camera, then remains doing funny antics. Bit of a moody fellow.

An odd, yet fun study.

#8 most popular cats for 2022 by the Cat Fanciers' Association is the: British Shorthair. Covered in thick, plush fur with soft, round eyes, the British Shorthair is as cute as any cat could be. Adding to this is their friendly, affectionate personality. They’re playful and fun, though they also tend to be quite lazy! Your British Shorthair will spend most of its time lounging around, simply enjoying the relaxation. Though they’re very popular pets, their expensive pricing can make them unobtainable for many.

This light, affectionately known to locals as Big Red, is one of Michigan's most iconic lights. It sits right across a channel from a beautiful state park with a huge sandy beach. Summertime finds the beach full, and crowds waiting for the often beautiful sunsets on lake Michigan.

An affectionate name for this bridge, which at high tide becomes completely surrounded by water.

It spans Biel Water, where it runs into the ocean at Belhaven, on the east coast of Scotland.

This was a little earlier in the evening than my previous post, not quite as stormy, with a hint of colour.

This little guy was affectionately named Buttons by the park staff at one of the campgrounds we stayed at on Vancouver Island. Although he ambled quietly towards our campsite at 6 pm both nights we were camping, he never bothered searching for food on our site. We had tucked all our food away in a locked metal bin on site. He simply climbed up the same tree as we watched him from a comfortable distance on our little deck. After observing him for a few minutes, I realized he was after the few apples hanging in the tree. He took a few bites from several apples and I waited until he showed himself in this opening in the branches. I was able to frame him nicely with a few apples hanging in view. When he was done, he would carefully and slowly slip down the tree trunk and amble off into the woods again. I wish all raccoons could be so polite. I have just this week put up the bird feeder in my back yard for our winter birds. I am hoping our backyard raccoons have gone to sleep with our recent snowfalls and will leave the feeder alone.

These two budgies share a close and caring relationship.

Two lions - brothers - photographed in the Timbavati Nature Reserve in South Africa. It forms part of the amazing Kruger National Park. Seeing this affectionate behavior in the wild was both a privileged and emotional experience for me. I will never forget it.

Affectionately known as "The chick on a stick" The Victory Column (German: Siegessäule, from Sieg ‘victory’ + Säule ‘column’) is a monument in Berlin, Germany. Designed by Heinrich Strack after 1864 to commemorate the Prussian victory in the Second Schleswig War, by the time it was inaugurated on 2 September 1873, Prussia had also defeated Austria and its German allies in the Austro-Prussian War (1866) and France in the Franco-Prussian War (1870–71), giving the statue a new purpose. Different from the original plans, these later victories in the unification wars inspired the addition of the bronze sculpture of Victoria, the Roman goddess of victory, 8.3 metres (27 ft) high, designed by Friedrich Drake.

Mating Gannets at RSPB Bempton Cliffs. The male had been coming and going a number of times until the female finally relented, he was a bit aggressive though.

The Maine Coon is the largest of all house cats, growing up to an impressive 40 inches. They’re often called “gentle giants” because they’re some of the friendliest, most affectionate of all cat breeds. For this reason, they’re highly sought after, which makes them very expensive compared to other breeds.

Melbourne's Yarra River is affectionately know as the upside down river due to it's permanently brown appearance.

The much maligned muddy colour of the Yarra is caused by the easily eroded clay soils of the water catchment. The water was clear at the time of European settlement, but intensive land clearing and development since the mid 1800s has resulted in the presence of microscopic clay particles. The particles are kept suspended by the turbulence in some parts of the middle and lower sections of the river. When the river water combines with marine salts as it enters Port Phillip, the suspended particles clump together and sink. The muddy appearance does not indicate an unclean waterway. In fact, the Yarra is probably one of the cleanest capital city rivers in the world. Since the major clean-up campaigns of the late 1970s and 1980s, the river has again become home to several species of fish and even the occasional dolphin.
