St Botolph's - affectionately known as the 'Stump' - is the largest building in England that has always been a parish church.
The building of the present church is believed to have begun in 1309, replacing a Norman church, but Christianity in Boston goes back to the 7th century when an Anglo-Saxon missionary monk named Botulph or Botolph is believed to have preached there, and founded a church.
One possible explanation for the town's name is that the place was called Botolph's Stone, later shortened to Boston. Medieval Latin documents show that Bostonians were known as 'viri Sancti Botolphi', St Botolph's men'.
The church, except the tower, was probably completed by about 1390. Early in the 15th century the eastwardly leaning pillars may have necessitated the reroofing of the church; at the same time the aisles were 'modernised'. The chancel was lengthened and repairs were carried out to the nave. The building of the tower was probably started early in the 15th century and took 70 yrs to complete. No one really knows why it is called the 'Stump', although it does resemble a tree with its boughs lopped ready for felling.

SILVERMAN…is an affectionate BLUE POINT SNOWSHOE SIAMESE. He is 5 years old, neutered and has his claws. He has an easy, short coat in creams and grays and intelligent blue eyes. Silverman was confiscated as part of an cruelty case by a local animal control. At that time he was malnourished, had an upper respiratory infection, and was infested with fleas. He currently weighs 12 pounds, but it is obvious that at one point he was a heavier kitty. He is now over his cold and his fleas are gone but the infestation was so severe that Silverman has a patchy coat around his rump from flea bite dermatitis. The skin is healthy…he just needs to get the fur back! :) His coat is growing back and it is a beautiful, silver-tinted gray and cream. He also has four white paws and a white bib. Silverman is a timid cat but very, very affectionate! He loves people and he needs people to give him confidence in his environment. When people are absent, he hides and is very easily intimidated by other cats. However, when humans are present, Silverman will immediately try to climb into an available lap, head bump, and make biscuits. He will also remain with his person when threatened by another cat. Silverman just needs a person to give him self confidence! He loves to bond with his people and would be a wonderful cat for someone who could give him a lot of attention. Silverman will get along with other cats, but an easy-going cat would be best since he is so easily bullied. He is moderately talkative and is not very active. Respectful kids would be fine as long as they were willing to pet him. Adoption Fee 150. FOSTERED IN OAK PARK, IL

Affectionately called the “Mardi Gras Monster” by many of the WHO DAT Nation, was discovered on January 10, 2013 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia (of all places). After it’s discovery it was immediately listed as Critically Endangered. It’s know to be hunted by packs of young children welding sticks.
