"Here lies Robert Kelwey a distinguished esquire amongst civilians (whilst he lived), renowned for talent, learning and virtue, who loved retirement, lived as a Christian and died in the Lord on the 21st of February in the year of our Salvation, 1580, and the 84th year of his age. He left Anne his sole heiress and only most dearly loved daughter married to John Harrington of Exton, Knt., whom he had always affectionately loved as a son and a friend, which Anne the said John had during the life of the aforesaid Robert two children, a son, Kelway, who died Dec 2nd 1570, 21 weeks old, and lies buried here with his grandfather, and also a daughter Lucy still surviving, and may God grant her a long life. To pay, therefore, a just tribute to so dear and affectionate a parent and to leave to prosperity an evidence of their deep gratitude, the said John and Anne have raised this monument and dedicated it to their father, Keylwey, and their son Keylwey (to their lasting memory if it so please God) and design it, if God will, as a sepulchre for themselves also".

Robert Kelwey 1580 m 1548/9 Cecily daughter of Edward Bulstrode of Hedgerley: a widow of Sir Alexander Unton with 7 sons and 2 daughters.
He obtained in 1553 a lease for lands at Minster Lovell, Oxon which had been granted to Cecily's first husband. Also in 1556 he obtained a lease for Coombe Abbey, Warks.
A lawyer, as surveyor of the Courts of Wards and Liveries, he was clearly a very wealthy man with “dwellinge howse(s)” in Warks, Bucks, Berks and London at the Temple and in Fleet Street, and property and interests elsewhere. His first and largest monetary bequest was “ ... unto my coosen ffrancis Kellwaye sonne and heire of Sir William Kellwaye knight deceased one Thowsannde Pounds ... ” Additional family bequests included: ten pounds to Lady Kellwaye, late wife of Sir William, ten pounds to his Godson Edward Button and a horse/house? to his cousin Ambrose Kellwaye. He left one of his best horses or geldings to Sir Thomas Bromley, Lord Chancellor of England, and named him as one of four trusted friends appointed to be supervisors and overseers of his will. After a large number of specific bequests Robert Kellaway left the remainder of his estate to his daughter Anne, the wife of John Harrington.
Describing himself as “of Stebimhaith” (Stepney) he probably died at house of his daughter here at Exton.

As a descendant of the de Bruce family was a favourite of James 1 who created him Baron Harington of Exton in 1603. He looked after the king’s eldest daughter Elizabeth, later Queen of Bohemia. The honour nearly bankrupted Harington, They remained her guardians until her marriage to Frederick V, Elector Paletine in 1613 by which time they were deeply in debt despite an annual income of c£6000 they owed at least £30,000. The king had initially granted them £1500 pa which was inadequate and a further grant of £1000 was made. John paid for all the bridal equipments, and was some £3,500 out of pocket. The King was unable, or unwilling, to reimburse him, and so, instead, granted him, on the 19th May 1613, a Royal Patent to coin brass farthing tokens which were to be valid throughout the realm. The Haringtons accompanied Elizabeth to Heidelberg on her marriage and spent 4 months abroad but on the return journey John Harington died of a fever at Worms 23 Aug 1613. Ann brought his body back to Exton for burial but then returned to the Palatinate and served for a time as a lady-in waiting to Elizabeth,

John inherited large debts along with the title, he sold the lordship of Exton to Sir Baptist Hicks flic.kr/p/adEVpE and by his will left the overplus of the estates, after the creditors had been paid (according to his mother the debts amounted to £40,000), to his 2 sisters, two-thirds to Lucy, Countess of Bedford, and one-third to Frances, Lady Chichester. Lucy eventually sold the remaining family estates in Rutland

Originally laid out in the 18th century as part of a large-scale urban development project, today it reflects the splendor and elegance of the city and attracts visitors from all over the world.
The Grieving Pastor
Adam Clayton Powell Jr., writing in the November 1951 issue of Ebony, recounted the story of an unidentified black pastor's grief at the death of his black, handsome, talented young male assistant. Describing the funeral, Powell stressed the preacher's quavering voice, his tear-soaked eyes, his shaking body, and his attempt to leap into the grave with the coffin:
The minister's broken sobs sounded as if they had been wrung from the tragedy-twisted heart of one who has lost his lover,..... the two had been sharing an unnatural relationship for a number of years. The entire congregation knew about it. The whole community knew about it--and yet, that minister was and is today one of the most powerful and 'respected' Negro pastors in all America.
This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 20th May at 20:00. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race was the biggest yet with 505 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing.
This race is part of the Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.

Participants: There were approximately 500 participants .
Weather: A clear evening with little breeze in the face of runners for the first 1km of the race.
Course: This course has a now near legendary reputation. It is fully left handed with very little in the way of inclines. Good road surface. The race started on the new Edenderry to Enfield road.
Refreshments: Lots and lots as is the tradition with Meath Road Running Events in the Hamlet Hotel afterwards.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

'The Workshops', as it is affectionately known, is a site that is steeped in history. The very first train to run in Queensland steamed from here (Ipswich) to Bigges Camp, now Grandchester, over 145 years ago. For decades the site was the centre of rail construction, maintenance and technology for Queensland’s burgeoning rail industry. In its time over 200 steam locomotives were constructed here. Thousands of workers have called The Workshops their home over the years. During its peak in WWII, over 3,000 people worked on site, making it the State's largest employer at that time. Now, The Workshops is once again an icon for the region. The rebirth of the site in 2002 as a world class rail museum, coupled with the oldest continually operating railway workshops in Australia, makes for a visitor experience second to none. www.theworkshops.qm.qld.gov.au/About+Us/History

The Grumman F8F Bearcat (affectionately called "Bear") was an American single-engine naval fighter aircraft of the 1940s. It went on to serve into the mid-20th Century in the United States Navy and other air forces, and would be the company's final piston engined fighter aircraft.
Grumman F8F-1 Bearcat NL9G flew for the US Navy as BuNo 90454. Its construction number is D.18. It was used as an instructional airframe as NAF Norman, Oklahoma in the 1950s. Ed Weiner of Los Angeles, California registered it as N6624C in 1959 and later changed the registration to N3551. Vernon D. Jarvis of Decatur, Illinois acquired it in 1963 and sold it to R. E. Schreder of Bryan, Ohio. Gunther W. Balz of Kalamazoo, Mishigan registered it as N9G in 1968. It flew as race #1 and then as race #7 Roto Finish Special. Preston Parish and the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum in Michigan acquired it in 1978 and restored it in Royal Thai Air Force colors. Now at Falcon Feild Mesa, Arizona.
This example was one of the 23 preproduction models ordered by the U.S. Navy after the prototype had been tested. and it was flown regularly until it crashed on Memorial Day weekend in 1995. Luckily, the damage was minimal, and it was decided that this rare fighter should be restored.
The museum's Bearcat served with VF-19 and, later, with VF-18. Then, in 1959, the late E.D. Weiner bought it for $500. It subsequently had a number of civilian owners before it was acquired by air race pilot Gunther Balz in 1968. Ten years later, Balz donated it to the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum.

Standing at 445 feet tall and affectionately referred to by the city's inhabitants as "Steffl" (a diminutive form of "Stephen"), St. Stephen's Cathedral's massive south tower is its highest point and a dominant feature of the Vienna skyline. Its construction lasted 65 years, from 1368 to 1433. During the Siege of Vienna in 1529 and again during the Battle of Vienna in 1683, it served as the main observation and command post for the defense of the walled city, and it even contains an apartment for the watchmen who, until 1955, manned the tower at night and rang the bells if a fire was spotted in the city. At the tip of the tower stands the double-eagle imperial emblem with the Habsburg-Lorraine coat of arms on its chest, surmounted by a double-armed apostolic cross, which refers to Apostolic Majesty, the imperial style of kings of Hungary.
The north tower was originally intended to mirror the south tower, but the design proved too ambitious, considering the era of Gothic cathedrals was nearing its end, and construction was halted in 1511. In 1578 the tower-stump was augmented with a renaissance cap, nicknamed the "water tower top" by the Viennese. The tower now stands at 223 feet tall, roughly half the height of the south tower.
The main entrance to the church is named the Giant's Door, or Riesentor, referring to the thighbone of a mastodon that hung over it for decades after being unearthed in 1443 while digging the foundations for the north tower. The tympanum above the Door depicts Christ Pantocrator flanked by two winged angels, while on the left and right are the two Roman towers, or Heidentürme, that each stand at approximately 65 meters (215 ft) tall. The name for the towers derives from the fact that they were constructed from the rubble of old structures built by the Romans (heiden) during their occupation of the area. Square at the base and octagonal above the roofline, the Heidentürme originally housed bells; those in the south tower were lost during World War II, but the north tower remains an operational bell tower. The Roman towers, together with the Giant's Door, are the oldest parts of the church.

Set Description: Another Chicago Air & Water Show has come and gone. Over the course of three days, 2,900 frames, and a pretty wicked v-neck farmers tan, I've assembled a set of shots covering all acts of the show. So if you missed any of the action - i've got you covered.
On Friday and Saturday I shot the performances from show center at Castaway's. On Sunday, I had the opportunity to shoot from a much higher angle - the John Hancock Center. Hope you enjoy!

This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. My kids affectionately call my dad Appappen (word for Grandfather from the south Indian culture) and I wanted to personalize this card. I used the awesome dies designed by Miriam Prantner for Neat and Tangled on this card. I first watercoloured the panel using distress inks then once dried assembled the elements on a diagonal and placed 3 Lawn Fawn die cut hearts cut out of glitter paper. I also stamped a Lawn Fawn elephant on patterned paper and added it to the banner sentiment. I finally cut the watercolour piece on a diagonal and then placed it on the black card base. The Flyin' Fish Polo Team of Segway Polo Club of Barbados (SPCB) won the International Woz Challenge Cup in Cologne, Germany in July 2009 and will be defending the title this year in Barbados.
With this honour and title, the Segway Polo Club of Barbados (SPCB) is pleased to confirm that Barbados will be hosting the Woz Challenge Cup from June 10th - 13th, 2010.
The Woz Challenge Cup is being hosted at the grounds of Lion Castle Polo Estates.
Barbados, a world class destination, has been the host of two major world class events, the World Golf Championships in 2006 and the finals of World Cup Cricket in 2007.
Barbados will now host the International Woz Challenge Cup in Segway Polo, cementing Barbados in the international market as a leading international sports destination.
The event is expected to have over 80 players from various teams around the world. Barbados is a place for vacation seekers and sports enthusiasts who travel the globe seeking new destinations for their varied thrills and adventures.
The SPCB has received full support from the Government of Barbados through its Ministry of Tourism, The Barbados Tourism Authority and other public sector agencies and private companies who have both agreed to support and provide their services/products as needed to make this event a resounding success for Barbados in June 2010.
Segway machines, (Pt - Personal transporters) were introduced to Barbados in 2009 and Segway Sightseeing Tours have become increasingly popular with cruise ship passengers and long stay visitors.
Segway machines are used globally as promotional vehicles and as an efficient means of moving around large work spaces like airports and seaports.
The event will attract not only the players of this fast growing sport but supporters and their networks to Barbados.
Segway Polo started as a leisure sport for the likes of Steve Wozniak, Co-founder of Apple Inc. (Silicon Valley Aftershocks) to a world recognized sport in the United States, Europe, New Zealand, and Dubai, to name a few.
Barbados, as the beacon for world travel vacations, is poised to take centre stage once again for the summer 2010, definitely for the Woz Challenge Cup and simply because we are where there is fun in the sun is with miles of white sandy beaches, dining at the finest restaurants, enjoyment of varied accommodations, first class golf courses, sailing, fishing, nightlife and entertainment, duty free shopping with good value for money and the friendliest people on the globe.

This is a photograph from the annual Na Fianna AC "Bob Heffernan" 5KM Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Johnstownbridge, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Tuesday 19th May 2015 at 20:00. The race has gained a glowing reputation as being one of the fastest 5KM road races in Ireland. This race commemorates the years of work and volunteering that local man Bob Heffernan gave to Meath, Leinster, and Irish athletics from grass roots upwards and his work with the host club Na Fianna AC who have a catchment area in this part of rural North Kildare and South Meath. The race, known affectionately by club-members as simply "Bob's race" is a fitting tribute to commemorate his contribution to this sport. Today's race had another very large attendance with over 420 registered participants. There was a wonderful atmosphere as runners from all over Leinster gathered for a great night's racing. The very changeable and unseasonably weather of late made for an unpredictable night weather wise. A shower of hail fell on runners between 2KM and 3KM and yet this shower didn't fall on the finish area at the Hamlet Court Hotel.
This race is part of the annual Meath Road Race League despite the fact that the race is run completely in County Kildare. The Na Fianna club, who organise the race, have a catchment area of South Meath and North West Kildare. The current route for the race has stayed the same over the past few years. However previous to that the race was held in Enfield and also Rathmoylan in County Meath. This road race has grown from strength to strength year on year and is now one of the premier 5KM races in Ireland and one of the top club attended races in Leinster. The race starts on the busy Enfield to Endenderry road and this requires a big effort from stewards and marshalls. However, as always, the event was a resounding success with personal bests and great runs from many of the participants.

Affectionately known as the “Tin Goose,” the Ford Tri-Motor was the largest civil aircraft in America when it first flew on August 2, 1926. Its all-metal, corrugated aluminum construction and the prestigious Ford name made it immediately popular with passengers and airline operators. Highlighted in this image is cabin of the Ford Tri-Motor.
