These are just catching-the-moment photos. You know, the look-what-is-happening-and-grab-the-camera-sitting-next-to-you-fast approach to photography. In Vidalia's case, the camera still had the 100mm macro lens with an 8-point-star filter. Not ideal for indoor photography with ambient light, but still, catches the moment. And you should have seen the slobber fly when Vidalia shook off.

I was more interested in textures, expressions, and atmosphere than in documenting the event in any sort of narrative way. For many of these photos, I dialed in settings to my camera, chose a distance to focus, and shot from the hip, shoulder, above my head, etc without looking through the viewfinder or knowing in advance what the camera might capture.
