The abandoned Union Carbide factory in Bhopal India, site of the worst ever single-incident industrial disaster. A leak of highly toxic gas, from this factory, killed between 8-10,000 people within 72 hours. Up to 25,000 people are now believed to have succumbed to illness or injury caused by their exposure to this gas.
The factory was never cleaned up and these photos show its condition 30 years after the event. Toxic waste, dumped at the factory site and the nearby solar evaporation ponds, continues to poison the land and ground water for miles around. The groundwater has been a primary drinking water source for tens of thousands of families, many of whom still rely on it.

The other day, Dumbldad contacted Evaxebra about the "Welcome" message on the 365 Days site as it was out of date. (I must admit that I'd not noticed it.) Ewa responded and made Dumbledad a 365 Days admin as he regularly trawls the group looking for photos that aren't self-portraits. Dumbledad then asked me if I'd like to be an admin too as I'd been a moderator since 1 Jan 2010.
