This was my first attempt at the unique group Get Pushed!!. I've seen some really neat work come out of this group so thought it would be a good learning experience (and no doubt fun).
Here's how Get Pushed works:
You sign up. Others sign up. The group's admins pair you up. You then challenge your partner to shoot something different than he or she ordinarily shoots. And your partner also challenges you. You then have a week to complete the challenge and post the picture to the group pool. With your picture you describe the challenge and how you met it.
For this challenge I was paired up with the talented Driek, here is his challenge for me:
You seem to be really into HDR photography, highlighting the subject against a vibrant scene (the beer, the tractor, Alex). My challenge to you is... to create an image with a similar effect, in a classic looking black & white.
Well, this challenge really got me thinking, I'll admit I've been having a bit too fun with colorful HDR. So I knew I was heading to a small town museum soon and thought I would get some "Classic BW photos". I ended up hearing the challenge as "find an interesting subject against an interesting background and use hdr but in classic BW," So I ended up choosing this shot as my offering.
I also created what I think of as more a standard "classic BW shot" and almost went with it... (you can see it via this link or in my comment below)

1695 Campus Court, Abilene, Texas: Architectural Description:
This is a 3-story, multiple-bay commercial building in the Beaux Arts/Neo-Classical style with Beaux Arts/Neo-Classical influences built in 1929. The structural system is wood platform. The foundation is undetermined. Exterior walls are original stone and original stucco. The building has a flat with parapet roof clad in an undetermined material. Windows are original wood, multi/multi double-hung sashes.
From the Historical Marker:
This school, formed to provide a Christian education for all grade levels, was founded in 1906 by A. B. Barret, an early educator and preacher for Texas Churches of Christ. It was first called Childers Classical Institute in honor of Colonel J. W. Childers, who deeded his homesite at North 1st and Victoria streets for use as a campus. Early expansion of the institution began in 1912 with the 12-year presidency of Jesse P. Sewell. In 1920 it became Abilene Christian College and nine years later was moved to new facilities here. The present name was adopted in 1976.
