Our king and saviour, Patrick Bauer, race director, and NOT a man of few words!!!!!!! Out of sight, is his translator, who did a sterling job, despite the fact that King Paddy would often just continue talking during the English translation!!!!!! He explained, the two options had been considered, given the extreme weather conditions - cancel, or continue the race in a reduced form but with harder conditions!!!!! Thank goodness the latter was the final decision, because I think had it gone the other way, a mutiny of 850 runners would have ensued.

There were plenty of papers in this office, not just the newpaper dated from 1988 (IIRC) but a whole range of different forms in Russian scattered on the floor.
Standing on the roof of the Hotel Chergui, waiting for Patrick Bauer's annoucement, after a fine buffet lunch in the sun, was short-lived when the storms struck again!!!!!! This one hit us square on.
