Someone's home, or apt. probably in the Hollywood Hills, or West Hollywood area, around the mid-40's. Probably friends or starlets from the studio, being photographed by Bill.

The design of the fireplace and the mirror above, brings back a hell of a lot of memories. I got - in on the absolute "tail-end" of the old Hollywood, but it was enough to give me a fairly-good idea of what had been going-on before, and those really WERE the days. There is no way to describe what it was like then, out here and what the movie people I was surrounded by, as a child, growing-up were like. They were just plain great, one-of-a-kind, God-broke -the-mold, everything you've ever heard or read or listened about. All true. Eythe and his crowd were just a bit before my time, but I have a fairly rough-idea what he -- and they -- must been like! One honest-to-God had to have been there!

Based on the information collected during my ethnographic work focusing my attention on the everyday understandings of dengue fever, and paying particular attention to the different ways in which the subjects that have had dengue described the experience of being unwell, I decided to re-work (collaboratively) all the information gathered so far, to create elements that reflect the ideas of how dengue fever is understood in various different contexts.

Promoters of public health have not taken into consideration the points of view of the patients or those who have had the disease. They design campaigns based on an entomological and clinical point of view, following a standard template where you see health staff –dressed in laboratory coats– talking about environmental hygiene and the purposes of sanitation. In addition, humour doesn’t play a role in the design of the campaigns.

In order to collaboratively create an intervention that reproduces the way Luis Fernando and Sara experienced the disease (you can find information about the ways in which they described the experience of being unwell by accessing my PhD blog: www.anthropologyartscience.blogspot.com), we asked Alejandro Uribe, Sarita Álvarez and Juan Camilo Ortega for their help. They are part of Bimana, a collective of artist that creates a variety of large-scale interventions and performances combining a solar balloon, plastic bags, kites, makeup, prosthetics design, and special effects. The idea was to create a fictional character, or a comic anti-hero, that would appear in the public space of the city, creating an active dialogue with different peoples.

Acknowledgments:

I am extremely grateful with the subjects of this ethnography Sara and Luis Fernando. Special thanks to the ‘Bimana Producciones’ team (Alejandro Uribe, Sarita Álvarez and Juan Camilo Ortega), the kite-flyer Andrés Ramírez and the actor Emilio Arango. I would also like to thank the rest of the people that helped during the public experiment: Pablo López, Lucía Tobón, Sara Ibarra, Susana Valencia, Hernán Marín, Mario Valencia, and Gustavo Ramírez.

Action Actors Wolverine claws X-Men X-1. Just some basic background history on the prop. They are screen accurate made from the actual stunt claws. Action-Actors obtained a stunt casting of the X-1 wolverine claws. Measurements where duplicated on a digital CNC machined.

Made by ActionActors and produced of aluminum. These were cast from the original stunt prop claws used in the movie X-MEN. These claws are as screen accurate as you can get!

I'm the best there is at what I do, but what I do best isn't very nice. *SNIKT*

Brian Dennehy, actor, pictured today at the RSC rehearsal rooms Clapham.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Brian Dennehy was a burly, light-haired supporting player and occasional leading man whose Irish charm and engaging grin made him a popular second-tier star in the 1980s.

After numerous TV movies, including Pearl, Dummy, Skokie and A Real American Hero (a Walking Tall spinoff in which he played the lead), Dennehy captured attention with small but showy portrayals in such films as Semi-Tough (1977) and Foul Play (1978), leading to stronger assignments in 10 (1979, as the philosophical bartender), First Blood (1982, as the sheriff hunting Rambo), Cocoon (1985 and its 1988 sequel, as the friendly alien leader), and Silverado (also 1985, as a Western heavy), among others.

Elevated to costar and leading-man status, Dennehy frequently plays tough, no-nonsense cops, as in F/X (1986 and its 1991 sequel), Best Seller (1987), and The Last of the Finest (1990). Also impressive as a smarmy district attorney in Presumed Innocent (1990).

Most recently, Dennehy has been busy in TV movies and miniseries, including Deadly Matrimony, Teamster Boss: The Jackie Presser Story (both 1992), "Murder in the Heartland" (1993), and Foreign Affairs (also 1993), opposite Joanne Woodward. He also played Bobby Knight in the TV movie Season on the Brink (2002). After the failed TV drama "Birdland" (1994), Dennehy appeared in Tommy Boy (1995).
