Taken for the Active Assignment Weekly! group. This week's assignment: Flash!
What it took: Used in-camera flash. Set up my portable turntable and opted to use the my vinyl of Brand New's "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" which is on white vinyl. I figured it'd really enhance the shot. In PSElements, added a slight vignette and bumped up the contrast slightly. Added a Square crop, which I felt mirrored the typical square packaging of the vinyl albums.

Introduction:
Defining Public Health can be a difficult task to accomplish. Public Health is all about what makes us sick, what keeps us healthy, and the many advancements our nation has made to make life so much easier to find solutions to these problems and healthier for us all. There are people constantly trying to improve the quality of life for all of us and trying to determine what is causing sicknesses. Not only are people improving the quality of life for us, but there are also educators trying to inform us on the ways that we can contribute to our own health and our community’s health as well. There are many factors that we look for when determining public health and what affects it; population, poverty, location, geographic regions, income, and many more. The simple things we may take for granted on a daily basis are those that we could not normally live without. Things as simple as trash cans, for instance, we don’t always realize as we’re carelessly throwing away tons of trash each day, how messy and polluted our community would be without them. These also not so obvious components of Public Health have dramatically improved our quality of life, and in doing so, have also increased our life expectancies, overall well being of individuals and populations, a world wide reduction in the infant mortality rates, and the elimination and reduction of several communicable diseases. There has also been a decreasing rate of the incidence of disease and collectively, have made the world a much better, livable, place. We hope to encompass these many components of Public Health in this presentation while focusing on the many progressions that we, as students and staff, have made on our very own campus. By focusing on these facets we will hope to summarize Public Health in the only way we know how, by showing you how we and our community help to promote public health and the well being of our population. The different sectors of Public Health are too broad to express in a few words, so in this presentation we hope to define Public Health, not with our words, but with our pictures taken around campus and our community. We hope that you can take back some information with you after seeing this presentation and we hope that you’ll be inspired to be a part of public health and helping not only the quality of life for yourself, but for your community as well. This is Public Health.

The photograph was taken on Abeggstrasse in Wiesbaden, just north of the
Kurpark. The subject, an active red squirrel, was busy digging in a rose
garden.
Near the north end of Bali, this magnificent, yet active volcano makes its presence known. Very dramatic.
