The 1870 fountain lady was really feeling her oats in Mt. Hope Cemetery! Usually the water coming out of her jar rises no more than 3 or 4 inches. Today it was going up about 4 feet.

"Io ricordo che quando (e l’ho fatto diverse volte) sono giunto a piedi e con sforzi grandi sulla vetta del nostro M. Strega, appena giunto in cima non potevo fare a meno di allargare le braccia in segno di conquista, dilatare i polmoni per respirare con gioia quella purissima aria e… abbracciare e baciare quella Croce, che avevo visto da lontano e che con le sue braccia aperte mi invitava a salire con coraggio. Una scalata è una bella conquista che dà grande soddisfazione al cuore: solo chi l’ha provata sa quanto è vero."
