Often mistaken for a hummingbird, the clearwing hummingbird moth has the same flying pattern, behavior, and pollination methods as a hummingbird. Being short-lived and very fast flyers, they are a beauty to witness if you can catch a glimpse. He only stayed long enough for this one shot.

Heading home to Ladner from Victoria (on Vancouver Island (Canada)) today, there was enough fog that a lookout was posted at the front of the ferry. I spent the first half of the trip with a 180mm lens capturing the wonderful bleakness/richness of the fog. It is the long weekend, so there were a lot of small craft about, livening up our trip.

Mount Batur (Gunung Batur) is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas north west of Mount Agung, Bali, Indonesia. The south east side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake.
We stopped there for 1.5 days, just enough time to hike to the top at 330am for a sunrise that was obscured by a downpour and massive amounts of fog. Fortunately, while most other people who did the early morning hike decided to head down, we kept on hiking and eventually had a gorgeous day with the volcano all to ourselves.
