On June 10, 2014 the UN Foundation and the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI) co-hosted the Global Accelerator at UN Headquarters in NY. The Global Accelerator is a first-of-its-kind forum for entrepreneurs and UN officials to connect and explore innovative solutions to the global challenges of job creation and youth employment, water and sanitation, and gender equality.

The Linear Accelerator is used to focus a concentrated beam of radiation at the region of the patient's tumor. This treatment is provided by Banner Health at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, CO.

The Additive Manufacturing Immersion course prepares introduces skilled professionals to additive manufacturing with a intensive three day course that covers the technology from a hands on and theoretical perspective. Students learn when AM is appropriate including the benefits and limitations. They also provided a material extrusion 3D printer at their desk, and after training, are encouraged to get familiar with the processes by printing on their own. Students are also trained on a simple CAD program that they use to compete in a design challenge at the end of the third day.
