Porto, Palácio da Bolsa (stock exchange), main hall [Nikkor-Fisheye AI 16mm f/2.8, panorama merging]

This reminded me of some of the images in the media from particle-accelerator labs like CERN

Munich Subway Station "Waldfriedhof" shot on a Fotowalk covering several Subway Locations.

Actually the Electra Building in downtown Vanvouver. Originally constructed in 1957 as the BC Electric Building. The building was then converted to residential units in the mid 1990's. There are two distinct "fins" that have triangular panels that run from the top 21st floor to the ground floor. The triangular panels are illuminated at night in alternating pairs of blue and green colours.

The Blue Accelerator is part of the European Union project to study offshore wind energy, wave and tidal energy, The Ghent University performs different kind of tests: wave energy conversion, corrosion and abrasion investigation, cable manipulations, research on resistive resistance, material research, meteorological measuring mast, research into underwater substrates, research into stratification, drone platform, ROV and kite technology.

On the background can be seen the Borssele Offshore Wind Farm in the Dutch section of the North Sea.

This is an in-camera two-image multiple exposure of a covered carpark roof at Bristol Temple Meads railway station. One of the images is with the camera held upside down.

I brewed it for Sliders Sunday like the latte I had nearby but in Nik Color Efex. There was a bit of solarisation, a bicolour filter, a blur vignette and some other things in the magic. It was processed from the raw in PhotoLab first.

As usual, it was the symmetric geometry that appealed to me and the abstraction created by the multiple exposures.

Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Sliders Sunday :)

This photo is personally dedicated to Johanna Willemijn!!! :o)

This is a linear accelerator for radiation therapy. It's built to teach kids with cancer about the treatment process and to make it seem less daunting. The model was conceived in collaboration with Dr. Ming Zhi and Dr. Behnood Khodayari at Kaiser Permanente.

I do not have instructions for the model, but the original model as shown in the photo is for sale. Contact me for more info.

Check out the video of the creation to see its functional components.

I don´t know how this machine does work. It´s found by me in a museum and it took my attention in the first moment when I entered the room.

The machine was built in 1794 by Johann Jeckel in Krumau (Cesky Krumlov) in Czech Republic.

The size is impressive: 250x130x240cm

Aperture: f/18

Shutter: 300sec

ISO: 50

Focal Length: 24mm

Camera Body: Canon 5D MK II

Lens: EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

Digging in with a long empty train of coal wagons and heading for the Blackwater system of Aurizon in Central Queensland, two 4000 class **** diesel locomotives, 4045 and what is believed to be 4001 lift their train out of the Raglan Holding Roads and pass Neerkol after a crew change.

You will note that both locomotives, although now owned by Aurizon, the privatised (stock exchange listed) company that took over the former Queensland Railways freight task from 2012 still wear the April 1992 corporatised "Bronco"** livery that was introduced following that corporatisation. The second loco even still wears the QR stylised logo on the side (early 70's) even though not now owned by Queensland Rail which also still operates locos in this livery and with this logo. This means these locos never wore the subsequent black and yellow ugly Eagle Livery of QR National from 2004/5, the original Aurizon and attractive "pineapple" livery and have not been repainted in the cheap and nasty Aurizon basic yellow. In other words, if they were living creatures, they would feel pretty mixed up!

Unfortunately, the locality of Neerkol, west of Rockhampton has a very sad history, being the site of a former church run orphanage which until its closure in 1978 subjected many or indeed most of its young residents to the horror of institutional child abuse over many long years and was later subject to a major Government initiated enquiry. The outcome thankfully was one we have come to expect these days, driving long overdue change.

** Bronco livery is technically an unofficial title for the maroon and canary yellow (let's call it that anyway) livery and comes from the name of the Brisbane based Rugby League team, reputedly Australia's richest who also wear maroon which just happen to be Queensland's colours. Unfortunately this year, the Broncos are the league's wooden spooners, devastating for local fans in a devastating year for a club that has won the Premiership several times. A new coach was officially announced yesterday with high hopes that 2021 will be a different year in every possible way.
